I am backcountry camping in the Smoky Mountains from Thursday-Saturday. I am so excited to have acid for this trip, I can feel myself hiking and tripping already, just completely at peace with the world. I just hope a bear doesn't come across our path and temporarily freak me out, haha. I've never tripped while hiking, is there anything less obvious than the usual hiking gear that I should bring along? And if anyone has knowledge of the park and which trails would be the best, that'd be great also. Thanks.
Weed is a must for me...When i read the title though i imagined tripping on a mountain with marijuana with some fog around and anicent shamen ritualists dancing around a giant fire making it burn more.....Thats just my imagination though lmao Just have fun
by the way add someone yelling at the anicent shame ritial practicers to make the fire burn more and that does it for me lol
yea and of course a flash light, music of some sort, an instrument if you play would be perfect (although sometimes the woods make beautiful music) man the smoky mountains are beautiful i hope we get a trip report out of this one and i hope he brought a notebook, because of all the things to suggest, i would say a notebook my parents might be by him this weekend, haha thats funny
Well, I must say it was the most intense, exhilarating experience of my life. It is slow at work today, so I'm typing out a basic summary of the experience, but in no way can words truly describe this monumental day, and if I tried it would be way too long. First off, we dose, 6 hits for me, 5 hits for my close friend, at about 12:30 and begin hiking down the Little River Trail from the Elkmont campgrounds, with the intention of camping over-night in the backcountry. This is double the size of any dose I'd had taken up to that point, but my other times I never came away from it feeling like I truly experienced what the drug has to offer. I also had doubts about how the acid held up on the drive as well as the whole time I had it stored in my fridge, so I wanted to be sure. It turned out to be the perfect sized dose. Right away, we know we picked the perfect trail. The trail follows a river the entire time, providing cool, clear water to refresh you all along the way and it also provided spectacular views of cascades throughout the hike. The area along the trails were so lush with plants and wildlife, it truly was the PERFECT setting. Well about an hour into the hike, we know we feel it coming on. We reach a waterfall and decide, we will smoke a bowl here. So we climb up the waterfall aways, and light up. This is when I start to trip like I've never before. The trees swirled and morphed, looked up at the sky was like a kaleidoscope through their multiple layers. I heard the earth creak and groan in the rapids, colors exploded everywhere I looked. I can not describe what really happened, it was seriously sensory overload. The beauty of the place was moving while sober, now it was just overwhelming and I was in complete awe of my surroundings. Unfortunately, at this moment a family came along the trail and decided to eat at the bottom of the waterfall. This made things very strange but only for a short time, as we felt they were intruding on our territory and waiting for us to leave, so we climb down and start hiking further. The thrill of this hike was a combination of being in the middle of the forest in a huge national park where we could potentially get lost, the possibility of running across a bear, and the immense beauty of the area. Occasionally, we would find ourselves stopping, and as terror and panic would flood over me, we would realize this is not the trail. We are in the middle of the fucking woods, haha, and we keep walking off the trail not realizing it. This is funny in hindsight and even at the time was very exhilarating, when we would backtrack and find the trail. Multiple times I was so overwhelmed by the moment I couldn't speak. Well we get to our campsite #24, and make the smartest decision of the day... we are hiking back and getting a hotel. We lost the lighter so no more smoking, and that was unacceptable if we are sleeping the middle of the woods after such an intense experience. The decision to turn around brought me some peace as well, and we hiked back along the trail stopping at the best spots, relaxing in nature. I felt the modern world melt away, and I felt life in it's simplest form flowing through me. I was bathing in the cool river, feeling the warmth wash over me like waves as I would step out, looking around me at the most jaw-droppingly beautiful place I have ever seen. Surely this feeling is what all religions seek, because I've never felt so completely alive then. There was also this instinctive awareness of my surroundings that took over, I was very aware of our safety and of potential predators like bears or snakes around us, but not in a paranoid way that may ruin a trip, but in a very natural sense. I was at total peace with the world. And at a certain bridge along the trail, I found and basked in this core of our existence. Everything I put value in faded away, and all that existed was that moment and pure brilliance of it. If heaven exists then I would have to say I've had a glimpse of it. This trip felt like a lifetime, we ended up falling asleep at 4:30 still tripping but physically exhausted. The drive into and then walking around the main strip in Gatlinburg afterwards was surreal and hilarious, particularly our late night experience at Shoneys. We also had a sweet private balcony which was on the river at our hotel to finish the trip on. But it was still nothing close to what I felt in the mountains. If you find some acid, you MUST take it in nature, and I would insist you go to the Little River Trail in the Great Smoky Mountains. You will thank me. Next stop for me will be the Rocky Mountains in Colorado around late August. Favorite quote from the trip - " Man, you are really good at pointing out the spiders that are real!"
Sounds like a very amazing trip! I will make sure the next time I get a hold of some doses, I will take them in nature. Hopefully my experience will be as good as yours was! haha Cheers! :cheers2:
well it sounds like you got the trip you'd been waiting for. It sounds incredible. and you are right of course, words can't do the experience justice...but you wrote this well...people who have tripped before can generally relate, though not completely understand. i love that you guys kept getting off the main trail. The minute you started describing your trip after you smoked i was like oh gosh...he's really about to hike while tripping that hard...well more power to you, i probably would have been on my hands and knees or something at that point...even though that would definitely not have been smart and that sense of not fearing because you are totally aware... I LOVE IT sounds incredible thank you for sharing!
Old thread bump, but I just wanted to say I have pictures finally developed from this experience. Feel free to check them out.
