Go see it. "War is a drug." It's a film about war that takes no sides. There are no good guys or bad guys. Just life, death, and addrenalin. Go see it. The performances, without exception, are excellent. The scene where our ultra-decsive hero, veteran of a thousand life-or-death descions, finds himself frustrated by the ignomious problem of choosing a breakfast cereal from the myriad of chocies available at the grocery store is remarkable, devistatingly answering the question of "why?". "War is a drug." Go see it. Best Picture? Very possibly...
Yeah, I thought it was brilliant. Not your average war movie, thats for sure. It doesn't take any political stances- it just shows war as it is. And despite the lack of fire fights, there are some very tense scenes while he is disarming the bombs. A few months since I have seen it mind.
It's going to get best picture without a doubt.. I'm watching it right now. This type of movie is generally not something I would really get into but the acting in this along with everything else makes this a very excellent film. I'm also going to bet this gets several other wins Sunday.. and I'm pretty sure Kathryn is going to beat her ex James for best director. Avatar certainly got it's run in the box office but this movie is going to sweep the awards.
Pap= something lacking real value or substance and considered to be unsuitable for the minds of adults.---------?
i didnt think it was intense. the intensity was something you had to put yourself there in the movie and think about. i consider intense shit that makes you say 'oh shit'. like Saw movies for example. or the Last Orgy of the Third Reich The movie was good but a bit overrated i think. idk y it won so many awards. the only thing i liked was that main character. he was very easy on the eyes
I can see why the Hurt Locker was a "good" movie. For me it just felt like a giant culmination for absolutely no point. Directing and acting were good too. I was glad to see it win over Avatar.
i've been said that before. i'd still like to know where was this 'palpable' tension you're talking about?
I'd say someone about to be blown into little bits of warm matter is tension! Especially when you know that in real war--this stuff happens. Of course ,like any movie you have to suspend your sense of disbelief and invest your time in the characters and the situations.
In real war some guy doesn't throw smoke grenades then stands in front of a car holding a 9 out to the driver... Atleast I haven't heard of it haha. Well if you get over the many cheesy party its a very realistic war movie compared to others... and more original then avatar.
I see.Well,I am of the in-between generation.Missed all the wars ,so I don't know shit about the particulars--
Sounds like you'd be a good candidate for bomb disposal. Either that or you have a hard time getting into the spirit of intense movies.
curiously i'm not into killing people. i'd consider Harsh Times intense for example. i just have a different experience and definition of intense.
