and i still firmly believe so. i've seen it happen to many people and i won't lie about it happening to me with weed leading to a lot of psychedelic use... I'm not talking about going from marijuana to hard drugs, but I think when people smoke pot, they are more likely to be exposed to other drugs and be interested in them. If you have to go to a dealer, the dealer probably is also involved with other drugs. to show this, imagine taking a poll, seeing how many people ONLY smoke pot vs. people who smoke pot and use SOME other recreational psychoactive vs. people who don't smoke pot but use other recreational psycho actives...
no its because your 15 and at that age its all about fitting in and being down with the cool things like hard drugs.. and at 15 your immature enough to think that bud is considered a drug but it has no negative effects so other drugs must be the same.. and at your age its not like kids are doing phycs and other drugs all the time, your just at the age where kids experiment with shit, theres a big difference from TRYING a drug and DOING a drug.
Anything that intoxicates is a gateway to more intoxication. Coffee is a gateway drug as is alcohol and cigarettes. An altered mind is a curious mind. The problem with weed is exaggerated by the fact that it is illegal but still highly recreational and harmless; meaning people begin to question government policies on other substances and their effects. Marijuana is not a gateway drug, intoxication is a slippery slope. Its differant.
once again man, your a bit young to be blazing while your mind is at an extremely important stage of growth.. especially gooming at your age, you feel negative effects because its your brain telling you to stop loading your brain with chemicals because its trying to grow naturally but your interfering with the process.
I think friends and advertisements are bigger culprits than Marijuana. Especially when it comes to alcohol and cigarettes.
The only reason your gateway theory works is if you go to dealers who are into other illegal drugs, thus the source of the problem is the actual prohibition of cannabis. If it wasn't illegal and could be purchased at a regular store, the theory that it will lead to other drug use through association with sketchy dealers would have no merit.
I suppose everything has a certain capacity for being a gateway drug, but because marijuana is stigmatized as a schedule 1 drug, kids think that their parents must have been lying about marijuana being deadly so i guess the rest of the drugs are just fine. The earliest drugs that are given to children and set the mind to look forward to drugs is prescription drugs and allergy medicine. I remember when mom simply gave me a pill to get rid of all my troubles from coughs to allergies, and hey! If these drugs make me feel good, i bet this cough syrup will do just that. as well as alcohol, marijuana yadda yadda yadda. Were exposed to drugs at such a young age its no surprise that we crave to try drugs, but marijuana being a gateway drug is incredibly false. plus why not have some will power to decide what is a gateway in your life, jesus take responsibility.
i've already thought about that, but it's not. i was sayiing things how they are right now. a ending the prohibition would make it a lot safer
If pot were a stepping stone, then I'd be hooked on meth or crack right now. I'm not. The only drug I do IS pot, period. Not saying that I haven't tried other shit over the years, but that's because I wanted to "experiment", not because pot lead me to do it.
similac is a gateway to solid food .. solid food is gateway to obesity .. obesity is a gateway to brain damaging neurotoxin...
Yes ~but~ Ultimately the responsibility of the decisions is with you... no friend, no advertisement, no drug, drink, or whatever is going to "make" you do anything you're not already willing to do. Calling marijuana a gateway drug that leads its user to harder and potentially more dangerous substances feeds directly into the anti marijuana propaganda. Marijuana is made a gateway drug simply by being illegal. In truth a convincing case for gateway status can be made for alcohol and tobacco... but we don't wanna mess with that sweet flow of tax revenue do we?... so of course those two good and wholesome facets to our rich culture are exempted from being smeared with the same brush stroke as that dreadful demon, cannabis.
You just blew my fuckin' mind. Marijuana is a gateway drug. One you realize illegal doesn't mean it'll kill you, you start to try more illegal shit.
