I actually joined because my friend said he is interested in dreadlocks and i want to help him. I wanted to know what i did to start, but i dont think i really did anything. I think all i did was stop superdreads (when a couple of the smaller ones want to make a gigantic one) from happening. I think someone told him to use that special wax stuff you can buy, but i didnt need that. What should i tell him? I think "dont do anything" is kind of limited advice, and might confuse him.

Some longer form of "don't do anything" is probably a good idea. I think mostly, make sure they understand that they WILL look like that guy in the alley behind their place of work for a little while, and that they can take this. It seems to be a lack of acceptance of this that leads people to buy "Instant Rasta-far-I" and rub axle grease in their hair.

    Nice hair, by the way.

hey cool, i know people like to over think this kind of stuff, being all worried how its going to look. Ill make sure he knows what he wants first, and knotted hair takes longer than glued hair.

Holy faq, nice link. Is it even stickied? Ill be sure to share that. My pal seems to have the right idea about hair locking up now, so im glad for that. That post should really flesh everything out if he needs it. thanks

    Nice hairs

It is indeed, but for some reason most new posters choose to ignore the title: "read this BEFORE posting..." or they just want to risk being flamed :D

man thats sweet, i have littlerly the exact same hair type as you, people done know how hard it is to grow dreads out when you have curls, i would kill for straight hair right now . and it sucks because while your hair grows out, it a little bit isent dreaded, its a huge curly blob pretty much. but man, your dreads look sweet, i mine are going to be like that in about a year ? haha
