if u want "hits" go get skeletons from the closet other than that, id say europe 72 is one of my faves
'What a Long Strange Trip It's Been' is a wonderful 2 CD compilation. In my opinion, there is not one song on these discs that are bad or mediocre. This is a very good first purchase.
grateful dead (1967) anthem of the sun (1968) aoxomoxoa (1969) workingman's dead and american beauty (1970)
If you are just getting into them you could get their greatest hits album American Beauty is a good starter too but to get a real "feel" for them it is best to dowload live shows
I know like everyone else said this but Europe '72 is great. The very best of the Grateful Dead is another good one.
studio-would hafta be american beauty and blues for allah but the dead only record studio for the record company-if i recall they hated the studio recordin process. get the live shit man-i found Rockin the Riens with the Grateful Dead-from Germany in 72-the Pigpen years where always great...
Whatever you do don't get a best of the Grateful Dead....they were never a singles band. I'd say pick up a Dick's Pick's or Closing of Winterland, something with classic live material. If you're going for studio albums though, go for American Beauty or Workingman's Dead.
terrapin station dead set blues for allah dicks picks volume 8 is the best closing winterland GET DOZIN' AT THE KNICK!?!
American Beauty and Workingman's Dead. But don't buy them, download them for free, and, if worst comes to worst, IM me and I can send you the albums.
