I often suffer from stone bruises, skin cracks and wounds that limit my ability to enjoy my walks but i created a patch that works wonders. It may not be my idea but i haven't seen it anywhere else so i thought i'd share it.

I use brush style Krazy glue and cloth adhesive tape. Clean up the area and dry. Brush a layer of glue around the area and cut a piece of tape just about the size you need for the repair. Stick that on and then brush enough glue to saturate the tape. Press firmly with tissue for a minute or so. When you take off the tissue enough will stay behind to keep the area dry and your foot from bonding to the floor. lol. I had a cut that turned into a crack on the ball of my foot and used this method. 10 miles through rough terrain and water, 2 showers and three days and it's still in place. It's on the part of my foot that always meets the ground.

They use that glue instead of sutures where they can, but it's not good for you. Let your poor feet heal.

I have troubles with heel cracks. they just happen to my cursed foot, the right one while the other never experiences heel cracks.
when walking on gravel they become quite pesky. So I clean , disinfect then sew the crack closed with a common needle and silk. oh yes, cleaning them in advance with spirit is mandatory. Should get some surgical needles for this. then I apply a rubberized canvas plaster. No blood spills because the skin is very thick and kind of dead there. piercing the thick, tough skin is hard and to ram the needle through it I have to wear a thimble. Seriously, no bullshit. When the sore cut deep in the crack heals, i remove the points, soak my feet and file away the thick layer of dead skin. it is some major drag.

Have any of you tried using aloe vera?

Jagerhans, I guess this means you can post again...

  6. Aloe vera is my cure all. Luckily it grows wild near me so I just break of a leave periodically and take it home. It keeps moist for an incredibly long time in a poly bag. As for the feet. I just tolerate the minor mishaps because my feet harden and become accustomed to hard ground really quickly.

  7. Just noticed my spelling of leaf......duh.......

I don't know what i would do if my heels cracked that badly. They do get rough sometimes but the ped egg seems to do the trick. Funny thing is that if i saw a barefoot woman with her feet sewn up it would probably turn me on. lol. Thanks. and thanks to everyone for their responses

I use heel balm to prevent my heels getting too hard.
I tend to walk toe-heel (fox walking) rather than heel-toe, so i don't need really hard heels.
