im quite looking forward to william and kate getting married. i think they, (when he is king) will be more in touch with the ppl than the queen is now. i hope the crown goes straight to william, i dont think charles is fit to be king...i dunno,,,and do we really want a queen camilla?

That's what being a king or queen means. It's their "right" to go straight to the top of the heap, regardless of ability or anything because, you know, they're royal

They're not elected, you know.

 

I don't think anyone said he was better than the rest of us, just that it appears he'd be more in touch with the rest of us, than anyone else from the royal family. That doesn't make him "better". It just means maybe he learned a few things from his mother before her untimely passing.

 

No - the whole concept of someone being a king implies that they are considered to be better than everyone else. Basically they're there now because their ancestors were nasty enough or strong enough to grab power and hang on with both hands. Not through any ability, charm or skills of their own.

lol, no i dont think they are better than us, i just think it is cool to have a royal familie. even more so if they put their "celeb status" to good use.
thats all they are today, celebs......
and that why i think charles should stick to what he knows best....Promoting organic gardening and farming.

Celebs ? Have you ever heard Mrs Windsor reading a speech ? She's been doing it for 50 years and she still hasn't learnt to put a bit of passion into it, or even just vary that bored monotone a bit.

Why not instead elect a non-political head of state for, say, 5 years - someone with a passion that they'll be able to promote for the duration of their "reign".

Patrick Moore, the astronomer, might not last a whole 5 years, but he'd be a good example. David Bellamy, perhaps.
