no not at all, and thankies :)
i have tried going vegan before, but i like yogurts and cheeses to much, alltho i mostley try and stay away from cheese now.
i have just found a good supplier of organic fruit and vege, so the above seems like a good healthy way to go.
i guess it will take some time to get into the swing of it, but ill trry my best. :)

B12 - can't stress that enough. Iron, too, if you're naturally low like I am.

Good luck to you! I have a recipe somewhere for raw cashew "cheese"cake.. it's like $50 worth of ingredients if you don't already have them on hand, but it's yummo :)

A food dehydrator is a raw foodist's best friend...

Thought I'd throw my two cents in. I have been doing high raw for a few months since about november of 09 just sort of experimenting around finding my balance. In jan of 06 I went vegetarian then april of 07 went vegan then went to ovo-veg last summer but now with raw I am a beevegan so the only animal stuff I use is RAW honey and bee pollen (local of course).

I think raw is the best step I ever made for myself with health, it helps me so much mentally (suffered from depression/anxiety/anxiety attacks for more than half my life), physically (I now can exercise with no trying or will really at all and I have never been active in my life), and I would say spiritually too I feel more connected and I have so much more clarity and I feel so much at peace with the world and existence.

The important things to learn is balance, you must figure out what works for YOU. Dont get caught up with raw entrees and desserts - eat simple. Just eat all fruit for breakfast and eat ALL YOU WANT. Then maybe a simple greens or cabbage salad or some collard wraps or nori wraps. The tip about the dehydrator above is really not so true I just got a dehydrator a few days ago but still haven't used it for anything and I mainly plan on using to preserve fruit and veggies from my garden and farmer's markets for the winter. One of the best things to have is a blender you don't have to get a Vitamix/Blendtec right off - some people love smoothies while other don't (I love them)

Also the big thing I still have struggles with is eating more food. Either derive most of your calories from fat from nuts/seeds or fruit or balance them out. You have to eat a lot of fruit to get the same calories as a cooked entree. I eat at least 5-10 bananas a day, 2-3 grapefruit, a few oranges, maybe apples, and whatever else is cheap. But then still I eat lots of coconut oil and maybe some soaked pumpkin seeds/sunflower seeds.

Also greens! YOu must eat a lot to maintain good iron levels and good mineral levels. I strive for at least a half pound of dark green leafy ones (usually turnip greens or kale) which I have in smoothie form. I still would love to have more because I know I need more but soon early spring greens will be growing in my garden and wild.

Raw is def. a journey that is worth it if you stick it out and just try as hard as you can at it. I would never turn back. Research any questions there are lots of resources out there or shoot any questions my way I'll try and give some service.

Also about the above post cashews aren't really raw, neither are almonds but I still have almonds (cashews dont agree with me) because I figure they are better than a donut.

This is my first post in probably a few years on here - yeah!

thank you all, well im nearlie there...i do have a bit of milk still, mainly in tea/coffee, and the odd yogurt.
and it was struggle. because i used to love bread, and i was really craving carbs, for the first 1-2 weeks.
but i do enjoy all the yummy stuff u can do with fruit vege, and the hunger/cravings have gone now, and i hardley feel im missing out.
im not forcing myself to do this out of principles, i just want to be healthy, and this seems the perfect way forward.
so thanks for all your help and support. :)

I did raw for four months without having done proper research first. Well, I had thought I did, but I was wrong. Anyway, I ended up eating WAY too many overt fats (i.e. Lots and lots of raw cashews, Larabars, etc)--

    I ended up feeling not-so-good.

BUT! I have now done research and have been in transition to 80/10/10. 80/10/10 could technically be done non-raw too, and provide some health benefits, however, I believe in eating foods in their whole and natural state. I eat mostly fruits (bananas galore!) with some leafy greens like kale and romaine... some zucchini...tomatoes...mangoes... celery... pineapple... apples...etc. It's been over a full week since I went raw, and probably half a week or so following 80/10/10 and I feel fantastic.

Anyway, I learned from past mistakes with raw, and the worst thing you could do in my experience is two things:

    1. Not eating enough calories
    2. Eating too many of your daily calories from fats.

You still want to get 1200-2000 cals a day (or more, based on your activity level) but you don't want to be consuming a large quantity of nuts, oils, buckwheat, etc. in order to obtain them because they will end up just making you feel lethargic in the long run. The problem that most encounter though, is that it takes a LOT of fruits (and some veggies) to stock up the calories you need for the day... I mean A LOT. And since most peoples' stomachs are used to eating smaller portions to obtain calories, they aren't used to such large volumes of food.

It takes time. I'm definitely not there yet. It's a slow process in some ways. I'm hoping to achieve 1500 cals in mainly fruit in a week or two (with LOTS of effort haha) but as of right now, gotta take it one meal..or mono-meal at a time.

    yay for bananas :)

About the dehydrator...yeah. I got one as a gift, and I've used it here and there, but honestly it's just too time consuming! Obviously you can put things in over-night and such, but the whole process of some of those raw recipes are just so tedious to say the last. Soaking, sprouting, dehydrating...who needs it?

I had fun with Kale chips, and they are so insanely easy, and I'll HAVE to continue making them whether I eat them or not, because my boyfriend is obsessed with them...but otherwise, the dehydrator and all those other complicated recipes just stress me out.

Blenders on the other hand, like you said, are just awesome. I would like to someday eat ONLY whole foods...no blending, etc. But, that's going to take some time. I'm really into my smoothies :)

    Kale, pineapple, and banana...oh yum!
