"Oh god. Amitriptyline. Don't do it. My brother took a ton of it once and I had to babysit him for 3 hours before he finally passed out. He had no idea what time of the day it was. He kept repeating things over and over. He was completely and utterly out of it and confused, slurring, falling over. He was agitated, too. When I tried explaining to him for the (literally) 10th time that, No, I never said we were going to Walgreens to get Benzedrex at 2am in the morning, he just kept getting pissed at me and telling me that I thought I was so smart. Called me a shithead a bunch of times, saying I was being condescending. In reality I was being very gentle, explaining things as simply and nicely as I could. He'd close his eyes for a few seconds, open them, and then ask me something random like "Well what did she say?". I'd ask, "What did who say?". He'd say "Well fuck when is dinner then?". This was at 2am in the morning. I'd tell him, "Dinner was over 6 hours ago," and he'd yell at me for being a know-it-all. I tried to make him go to bed over and over again but that only made him more agitated and angry, yelling at me nonsensical things I had no idea about. He was completely incoherent.

Afterwards, I caught him trying to smoke a bowl in this state. I went to the bathroom for a second and when I came back, he was gone. I found him in the attic, slumped over in a chair, holding the bowl up to the left of his face (I guess he thought it was his mouth), eyes closed, lighter in hand, with the flame just sitting on one of the fingers while his skin blistered and burned. I ran over, smacked the lighter out of his hand, and snapped him awake. He looked around and said "Oops, I guess the bowls cashed." The weed in the bowl hadn't even been hit; it was full. I finally just forced him to go to bed after spending half an hour bandaging up his finger.

Trust me, don't take amitriptyline. It turned my brother into a confused, sedated baby until he passed out with his mouth hanging open. Some of the worst hours of my life, having to babysit an idiot who had no grip on reality. He ended up having to get his burned finger treated. I'm too nice of a brother... should have let him burn his finger off or walk off the roof or something equally ridiculous instead of wasting my night watching over him.

Edit: Oh yeah, forgot to mention. Before he took the amitriptyline (I didn't know he was taking it at the time) he asked if he could go ahead and grind up the ounce I had just bought. I said yeah, that's fine. When I came to find him he was already off his rocker, and only an 8th of ground weed, maybe less, was with him. The rest was missing. It was impossible to ask him where the rest had gone, he had no idea what I was talking about or even what was going on at that point. The next day I asked him where it was - he said he didn't remember ever grinding the weed I gave him, nor what had gone on the previous night at all. I had to explain why his finger was burned. I was pissed as hell at him. Thankfully he bought me two ounces as an apologetic gesture. To this day, we still haven't found that missing weed."

I found that after googling amiltriptyline recreation. I thought it was a pretty funny story, but it doesn't seem like much fun.

its not bad to try once or twice, no value beyond that. its not the most euphoric high, but it gets you fucked up. take both.

They may be used for mental health issues. I once was taking various little tiny pills, including amiltriptyline. Taken alone, in cocktails, regularly, or occasionally, no self-evident effects were noted. Over-dosage attempts were not taken (more than two little pills) to report of. I noticed greater effects from use of melatonin and DMAE if you are browsing your nutritional supplement isle.

ps: this question reminds me of someone once stealing an old bottle of Prozac and taking them all at once (I tried taking one or two regularly, and noticed no effects) thinking they'd get high  - and being pissed at me that they didn't. :p

AND I used to see people sell all kinds of meds to try and buy drugs ...
Carbamazapine, Artane, now folks even are buying ABILIFY! That isht got my attention to learn something new - possible side effect of making a face and it sticks like that? Tartive dyskinesia? Reminds me of Bill The Cat, Ack!! Phbhbt! Sound like as much fun as 'permenant' nystagmus. There are medical professionals who go to specialized schooling for longer than many people here consider, before dispensing such chemicals, keeping mind to address or monitor such negative effects which most people are blissfully unaware of.
