sweatlodge :)

I'm going to a sweatlodge tomorrow. I haven't smoked pot all week so I can attend the lodge, I can't wait!!! I've been crying like a baby all week and tomorrow I'm gonna be a big baby... go back to the womb and be reborn. It's so fricking awesome.

Just wanted to share that.

This is not some new age thing either... it's a traditional healing ceremony.

 

I think you will really enjoy this experience.

Is it mixed or women only.

I go as regularly as I can, since I smoke pot ..... it's a mixed sweat ... I also attend womens only sweats. I like them both... the women's are very nurturing and there are many pipes to be smoked but I prefer the men's singing and drumming.

 

then you dont know pot or sweetgrass very well.

that's right, traditionally in many clans women did not attend the lodges but things have evolved somewhat... some tribes still do not allow women into the lodges but that's kinda old school.

I have also been to both and find the energy very different between them. Not that one is more or less, just different.

thanks Heat, it's nice that you understand the commitment and the sacredness of the ceremony. I can't wait to have my nice sleep after I have been burned beyond all recognition.

 

oh, how fantastic I have always wanted to go to one but alas, it hasn't happened yet. Thank goodness a friend of mine is creating one on her property right now. Can't wait for her to get her community together.

Its cool you get to smoke pot during it....Not aware of any down here that are that open.

 

No pot, I havent been smoking pot in order to be prepared for it.

We smoke pipes with sacred tobacco... would NEVER smoke weed.

Your friend should be very careful before she takes on the responsibility of the lodge... you really have to know what you are doing. Also it is a right that is earned and not to be taken lightly.
Even the grandfathers (stones) used need to be that of a certain kind. There is potential for pesticides to be on them, or they could explode from the heat.
