This is my new kick now... I love making candles and soaps! They're so pretty and awesome when homemade! (And easy!)
Mann...its been eons since I made candles and have always wanted to learn how to make soap but haven't gotten around to it yet. Any good candle making tips for the rusty one? I haven't found anyplace that has wax at a good price yet either.
candlemaking is my main thing i do lots of stuff, but this is and i think will always be my favorite. right now i'm working on getting an actual full line going (this is after 3+ years of solid testing and playing) which has meant lots and lots and lots more testing. there is so much more involved in doing this right than i would ever have guessed when i first started. i have literally put thousands of dollars into it lol. i really don't like to think about that part... what kinds of candles are you making? welcome to the addiction!
well, about a year ago, I got a big block of wax and some scents, some molds, some wicks, and some powder stuff that the guy said you need to put in the wax, for some thing I can't remember what he said it was for...any way I forgot the instructions he said on how to make them, so all the stuff still just sits in a bag in my closet, lol...maybe someone here can give me some quick instructions?
whoo hoo! i found some candle experts! i'm trying to make some beeswax candles for yule presents and i'm having some problems. please have a look at this: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showthread.php?t=47098 and i have another question here: http://www.hipforums.com/forums/showpost.php?p=638003&postcount=17 happy candlemaking all.
The only thing I've done close to that is melting crayons, but I do love candles!! I'm into FRUITY flavours, but anything too strong and I start hackin sneezing etc. I hate those perfume samples in magazines because it's rare that I like one! Anyway, do you guys have a favorite candle scent?
^^lol. Anyways... I met this really cool hippy chick who works at this candle show in Naples. I think her shop's in this shopping mall called tin city. If anyone's down here, you should check it out.
oo! candles! i've just been playing with candles not ten minutes ago. I don't actually make them but when I buy candles I make them all dribbly, it's so fun. The only way i know how to do this is to hold a match on the side of them until the wax runs down in beads. does anyone have a better way to do this? My own little weird thing i like to do is get a tealight, burn it until all the wax is just sitting in a pool then dip the end of a pen in it until the pen has a ball of wax on.... somehow writing with them helps me be more creative. I've got one stuck in my ponytail now. A bit random but there you go!
