Stop sitting around thinking about stuff and go do something. Find a interest or pasttime and then find others who share your interest.
From my experiences of other people around me claiming they are "depressed" or is suffering from depression - the best thing to do is be ACTIVE. Change things up from your norm. Exercise, socialize, meet new people .. etc. Last resort would be to go see a doctor and have them put you on some medication. medication may be good for short term, but long term it's YOU that need to change.
Try to think of something that you once really enjoyed. Now start doing it again. Get outside. Do some kind of sports/exercise. The endorphins really do help. Do NOT read any 19th/early 20th century bohemian fiction.
Think of all the things that you HAVE. If you don't have it, make it your mission to get it. If you can't get it, figure out a way to get it. Knowing you "can" makes a big difference.
That is so hard to do when you are depressed. I know it's good for you but I know when I'm depressed I hate everyone and I'm super grumpy, so I probably wouldn't recommend being around me when I'm depressed. I like to listen to music or play my guitar that always helps for me...most of the time. Now I can deal with my depression but it's my anxiety that it driving me crazy.
