Are those your own. very cool. I just heard that saying for the first time the other day. A watched pot never boils. Those suckers grow out of control when they get going. I know all the tops I planted from back in the day when I began my research have well grown back anything I ever took from them.

Here's a few research projects for you.

    1) remove all the green and boil only the white tissue, or only the core and the white tissue to put to rest once and for all anecdotal reports of alkaloid concentrations...

And then research the same subject by

    2) peeling all the external thin whitish skin off the green and boil this up and report on the relative incidence of nausea vs effects on both experiments...

    That would be research...

Yeah, but it would be redundant research.
It has already been confirmed many times by shamans and kitchen chemists that the majority of active alkaloids reside in the green portion of the cactus flesh.

The first time I made a potion with SP I used all but the fiborous core and had lots of gastric distress. Next few times I only used the peeled green flesh and had very little nausea and it was short lived. But the effects lasted 12 hours +

Relative effects were about the same, so there doesn't seem to be a substantial amount of mescaline in the white flesh and core, and the waxy skin does contribute to nausea.
Plus you appear to have a decent supply so you boil up the core and white tissue and give us your report. I would but I don't have that much cacti available and I hate stomach cramps.

Have been for years. Just absolutely hate removing the external whitish waxy skin from the green. But, Time in is Experience out, as in all things.

Three feet of SP, core gone, white fat layer removed, outer waxy white skin and needles removed, dried and powdered green layer through an IPA extraction = perfection.

But God-damn, what a lot of work...

Yeah it definitely is a slow, slimey process, but worth the effort.:)
