I can not really click any of those choices, bc I have had depression since I was 14. I self-medicate though with mj or kanna. so I usually feel much better lately.

Depressed, never. That is if you take depressed to mean sad/down beyond what is reasonable for the situation.

I get bummed every once in a while because of my current situation, but not often.

Always. I actually can't remember a point in my life where I wasn't depressed. Maybe I have a real problem.

I have lots of issues with depression. I was diagnosed with clinical depression when I was a teenager. Now I am trying to live through adulthood which comes with many challenges. Lots of people depress me whenever they reject or hurt me. Right now I am very comfortable with who I am, so I don't feel as depressed as I used to.

I have read a few people here have suffered from this (BDD), I was diagnosed with that when I was around 16. I am pretty sure I am through and past it now, but it killed me for years.

It literally stops you from functioning like a normal human being, it is something a lot of people do not understand. I had people thinking I was a prick because of my offish attitude, which stemmed from that. And if someone made a slight remark about my looks, I took it hugely to heart. Equally, if I was complimented, I thought it was pity.

I think it still gets me a little now (the constant looking for perfection in myself), though it's barely anything at all. I have learned to believe that everybody has there faults, and some of the things I used to worry about aren't faults at all.

All in all it's very confusing, and it was very depressing. I am quite a happy chap now though, that lasted at its worst from around 14 to 20- basically through school when it was probably toughest :p

All the guys in my family have OCD to some form or another, so it may have been something to do with that. I am very clean, particularly my hair, let's just say that

BDD is excruciating! When I suffered from BDD, during the 3 worst years, I thought about my physical flaws and in ways to make the money to correct them all through plastic surgery 24/7, and I really mean 24/7. Even while asleep I'd be dreaming about it.

However, we are generally not taken seriously, as BDD is often seen as vanity, especially in Portugal, where most people have never heard of this condition.

I had no issues with people around me, cuz even being extremely depressed I was amazingly good pretending to be happy in order not to bother them with my problems. Only my best friend knew. I even had classmates saying that they wished they were always happy and careless like me on days all I wanted was to jump off a bridge.
I only told my parents when I was near a mental breakdown and was then put under strong medication, which I got of from after 2 weeks, as I didn't believe it would help me (and I'm happy that I did so).

And yes, BDDers take an insult very seriously while tending to ingnore compliments. A ton of compliments will have little no no effect on a BDDer's self-esteem while a single insult might make them hit rock bottom.

I don't know if it's possible for a BDDer to get completely rid of BDD, especially when it's a severe form we're talking about, but it is possible to learn to cope with it.

We either imagine our flaws or see the existing ones as much worse than they actually are, and I'm now able to understand mines are not half as bad as I thought and I've learned to value my inner self more. I had, of course, to go through psychotherapy and also to find ways to work on myself - some very harsh - in order to get to this point, but it was surely worth it. I still absolutely hate cameras, though lol

    Ditto!!! :D

Well I am Mentally Ill and disabled with Schizo-affective Disorder, rapid cycling bipolar type so most the time I experience deep depression at least daily I am doing better on the Medications though. SNRI's and one anti-psychotic I take when I feel like taking it, today was just not one of the days I felt like taking it so I am awake instead of being zombified and busy so the depression bomb and doomsday thoughts have not hit today. Today has been a Good day for me.
