I was listening to the John Lennon Wenner tapes tonight, and at one point Lennon says he thought of himself as a genius. It's a true statement and you can't really deny -- he was right and deserved to be so honest about himself. Imagine what it would be like knowing you're a genius and you had such an impact on the world.
I can deny it, and I will. He has showed no signs of genius. He's spoken words of both wisdom and ignorance, as all of us have quite the capacity to do. As far as I'm concerned, Paul has more musical intelligence by far...
Paul is no doubt a musical genius in my mind as well, but Lennon had so much soul and character, in my mind. He was extremely unique.
Yes yes, agreed. I don't get what the big deal about John Lennon is. But then again, I've always much preferred the 'I want to Hold your Hand' side of The Beatles...in which case I don't understand their vast fame at all.
Paul always seemed more the 'music professor' type. John always seem more the toking around the campfire with an acoustic singing folk tunes type -- and I'm that same type.
