Might sound crazy at first to ask...

Some of you that read this will think you see the dark but you actually don't, not properly, but un-bestknown to you, what you see exactly in darkness is not actually what most people see at all. You see something else, but you've been born to see this way, and so you assume everyone else does too.

This is a rare, mysterious condition, where a person would see a static, or snow. Appearing all over the visual field in the dark. It's a condition called "Visual Snow" see: www.visualsnow.com

I'm hoping to find someone here who experiences something similar to what I've described.

Even if you do not experience this strange condition, look up on it. It's extremely interesting. A similar condition known as HPPD is known to be caused by use of psychadelic drugs. However, some -like me- have been BORN with this condition.

Another interesting aspect is I can mildly hallucinate at will at any given point when in darkness. Creating colour-like clouds and other shapes and explosions (very complicated to explain!).

Just thought I'd share this and raise awareness, people need to know about this!

I see exploding pulsing shapes and colours, it's quite common I think. Never heard of seeing snow-like static, though when I've spent a long time doing video editing I have seen interlacing artefacts in real life:eek:

Yes! Thats the best way to describe it is static, kind of like when the TV goes fuzzy, but with more black.
I didn't notice this until after I started experimenting with hallucinogens.

I experience this as well- it happens during the daytime when I look up into a blue or gray sky, and also at night.

I think it's mild HPPD for me, but it started after I used marijuana and before my use of stronger psychedelics like acid and mushrooms.

Always fuzzy and static-like in darkness for me, I remember being very young and it scared me, I thought like there were hundreds of bats in my room.

Sometimes happens to me when I stare hard in the dark. Or If I'm sitting down for a great while and get up quickly.

i get better images at night... more colour and actual form, but in the day it is like a static screen... yeah, like visual snow... always had it but it is not always about... maybe it is when i am tired or stressed... haven't really thought about it before too much, but will try to observe it in more detail now... thanks Mindgasm :)

Yep, I have it constantly, light or dark. I've had it for as long as I can remember, and it's constant. Worse in the dark though.

It has absolutely nothing to do with drugs. It's just an illusion created by blood passing through the veins in your eyes. That and it can be caused by anxiety.
