Who's gonna start campaigning for diabetes? Shouldn't we balance this out at least? Is cancer more deadly than the 'beetus? Also they have linked diabetis to cancer.. so really... by helping fight cancer.. you may end up with it... WTF!
ok but only type 1 diabetes. i'm not marching twice on a related note why does it feel like breast cancer marches are feminist rallies in disguise..
Perhaps one part of the campaign is to off them with cardiovascular disease before they have a chance to develop breast cancer. Those benevolent fast food are generously helping the government out too! Did you realize that if at least 47% more people could just suddenly and prematurely die from heart disease and stroke then Social Security would become solvent??? editorial note: statistic pulled straight out of my ass
i think promoting better health and wellness should not be left up to companies that rob peter to pay paul as they say. i mean, really. meat instead of bread? really? we are one of the only cultures that makes meat the main part of a meal. i dare say that most of our widespread health/social problems (obesity, diabetes, heart disease, teen violence etc) can be combated by better food habits. KFC only wants people to think they are helping. mainstream food is killing us. and the only way to change it, and to bring prices down for the better foods, is to buy them. right now organic carrots are more expensive, but they taste so much better than non organic, that none of them go to waste. the more people choose organic carrots, the more farmers will grow them, and the cheaper they'll be. im not an all organic person by any means, but i have definately been converted on the carrots. cook at home to feel healthier. all it takes is a little time, and most things dont take half as long as you think. bread does most of the work while you are out of the room, so whats a few minutes of kneading and shaping? plus you save money. and fresh bread tastes better, and isnt all full of preservatives and shelf stabilizers. what about refrigerator pickles? homemade jam? its all about what your time is worth. my family is worth 15 minutes of kneading and shaping. most people dont get that we work to make money to pay someone else to take the time to bake our loaf of bread. when 15 minutes could save you 30 cents a loaf on bread. or scalloping your own potatoes. i bought a mandolin for less than $20, and its already paid for itself in au gratin and scalloped potatoes. no more boxed crapola. and it doesnt take that long to slice potatoes ya know? sorry, i do ramble on sometimes. now im hungry.
this thread made me puke... I hate people that live off of fast food and act like this shit is healthy and then bitch and moan about their heath problems.. I eat nuts and berries, cereal and wholesome home cooked food.. Even if my home cooked meal is Peanut Butter Honey Chicken Waffles and Chocolate.... you cant get that at KFC.. ..
side comments: ain't nothin wrong with meat. unless it's cruelly raised, pumped with antibiotics and hormones, tortured, then smashed with toxic chemicals and preservatives before it's deep fried. that's completely unnatural and damaging to everyone and everything involved. fresh, organic, local, wild or raised meat is good, in my opinion. whatever's natural. i favor a primal type of diet over any other meat, vegetables, fruit, seeds, some nuts, natural oils.. what else do you need i'm just rambling, i know
KFC is fucked up. has been for a long time. but it really disgusts me to see all of those buckets of greasy chicken that were most likely tortured before their slaughtering, and campaigning for us to eat it to help save breast cancer. Theyre one of the reasons we have so many obese ppl and diabetics. small reason, but they count! eat more, get fat, have health problems, but help breast cancer. i would rather just give the breast cancer foundation money. KFC is making big asses out of themselves.
meat is good, but for most people its no longer a necessity fuel-wise. most people work sitting down. burning negligible numbers of calories. even people who work on their feet often work in a station and don't move around much. yet people eat huge caloric meals as if they had slaved all day in the sun on the farm. no wonder people are obese. on a side note, while i was preggo i ate A LOT of fast food. like, an embarrassing amount. ( i was eating for 3) and most fast food has some msg in it, or a close relation to msg (hydrolyzed oils, cardeegan, several others) msg can negatively affect the endocrine (glands) system. and i am only just getting my thyroid back under my own control. my son is almost 4. ive been in treatment for almost 2 years. i think having twins was partly to blame for the hyperthyroidism, but i wonder how much can be attributed to glandular damage from all the fast food i ate while pregnant. what is the best way (in your opinion) to get others to eat healthier foods and make better choices? most people seem so resistant.
I'd like to know about this, too! I need to start eating healthy, but I would also like my boyfriend to eat healthier foods, too! I guess his family has a history with heart disease and problems and he eats the worst foods EVER! I don't want him to be sick when he's older
The fact seems to be that it is unprofitable to have a completely safe and healthful general food supply... people need to take charge of what they put into their mouths or their financial future will be in the hands of a medical establishment that is set up to make as much money as possible.... and the government is keeping it that way despite what congresspeople say about the general population. In reality they seem no more interested in making drugs affordable than they are in breaking our "addiction to oil".
