Spent thousand(s) on surround sound-use TV speakers

Over the last 4-5 years I have poured a lot of money into a decent surround sound system. Low end to audiophiles I'm sure, but really really nice to the average Joe like myself.

My ex had "hearing issues" that eliminated blasting or even normal volume usage. My current doesn't want to hear and feel every thunder clap or train noise or any of the really cool reasons for having surround.

I can't really bitch about them, as I have had the place to myself for weeks, and haven't turned on the system once. I use the basic TV speaker which are not bad, but come on.

I can't figure out why this is. Maybe it was the hunt and challenge of getting all the components, maybe it is because I feel guilty for spending money I did not have or worst of all-a bit of depression is stopping me from doing the things I used to love. Watching movies, blasting tunes.

Anyway that is my thought for this morning as I look at my nice system as I go out the door, thinking I will watch/listen to something cool when I get home and end up watching reruns of friends.

I just borrowed money for a €1500 rig that I have to pick up from the UK next week, we have to take two vans over for it though to avoid weight restrictions which is costing me another €200 for fuck sake.
Well at least my dad says Im paying him and his friend to drive there but they can fuck off if they think Im paying their diesel money. Already taking enough of a financial risk as it is.

Mainly going to be renting to parties, teknivals and festivals...mostly going to be hosting our own parties though :reddevil: Need to try and make my dads money (€800) back by August though so have to keep it legalside before running it at teks/parties.


Thats it there, buying it 2nd hand since our build funds fell through. Two of the 15" scoops are missing drivers though but we have some PD154s to put in em. Going to have to suss a new generator for it too, the one we have at the moment is on its last legs.

For home I just have two moniters and a sub, living right in town so does the job for now.

 

Even needing some repairs-looks pretty awesome-and lots of good luck for a successful business.

Lucrative enough market for it around here and not much competition so hoping for the best. Not even any repairs needed, cabs are of solid build. Cant guarantee theyre going to stay that way though haha

 

Dude I am the same way. except whenever I see someone in my house watchng tv with the damn tv speakers, I yell at them and then turn the stereo on, even if it is just Friends, or the News.

There's nothing better than "Smelly Cat" at 90 decibels. However, I have never been able to test the full potential of my system because of my neighbors. I live in half a double, and I swear my neighbors' family policy is to "never leave the house unattended". There is always at least one person there. WTF weirdos fucking go to a movie or something so I can rattle the pictures off your wall!!!

 

At my old gaff I had the same problems but it was the neighbours on the other side of the fucking road.
A good 50 metres and a main road between us and the 19 year old girl who goes to parties would come over asking me to turn it down the first two times I did but the third time she came over I said "theres two lanes of fucking traffic and two walls between us, the cars are louder and closer than I am, complain the them first" and closed the door...even my mum said she must have sand in her twat hahaha. She was a bit of an odd one anyway, living in Tenerife now though

 

I would blast that shit.. Then stop answering the door when she knocks..

 

Exactly what me and my mum started doing after the 3rd time. New gaff Im in now though I have about 1.5kw running with no problems. Been here 2 months without complaints anyway...well.. the odd lashing from my mum if shes in a bad mood

Although at the usual free party locations there arent any houses within at least a mile. Only place where its illegally going to be used anyway so not bothered about that
