ive been using pure tea tree oil for a long time and i came across some "tea tree special shampoo". now i know if i buy shampoo i want it to be residue free but it doesnt say "residue free" says it has lavender and peppermint and "will wash away impurities". sound like something good or no?
sounds okay if you already have mature locks, but if you are trying to grow dreads your gonna want residue free
Read the ingredients if there are a load, more than ten and says Sodium Laureth Sulphate it's not residue free
Seeing as everyone's offline and I am a raving insomniac. I researched the ingredients of the Mitchells shampoo. With that many chemicals and with there no label saying residue free it's highly unlikely it is residue free. Also, with it having shea butter as an ingredient, if you have young dreadlocks it wouldn't be wise to use it. A very easy way to get rid of residue is to alternate between two different brands of shampoo. So by all means use it if the chemicals don't bother you but use another brand of shampoo as well. If you wash once a week, alternate between the two every two months.

Well... If your dreads are six years old the sheas not going to do much. I can't really advise you to use it or not but just for shits and giggles: If I was in the shower and I needed to wash my hair and that Mitchells was the only thing to hand I would use it. But residues aren't an issue for me. But if residues are an issue and you want to stay the fuck away from them, don't use it. I'm thinking that maybe you could just buy clarifying shampoo, add some tea tree oil and jobs a good 'un.
Totally. At 6 years in I wouldn't worry about it. Honestly. I'm nearly 2 and a half years and and I don't give a shit what goes in my hair. I dumped a shit ton of shea butter shower gel on it the other week to try and moisturise it because it's dry as fuck. Also. I use residue shampoos and have been for nearly a year and my roots are locked up to fuck. I'm doing an experiment you see as to whether residues are as harmful as people percieve them to be. I dreaded up a bit of my fringe two months ago and that's coming along nicely. I have some frizzies but meh. If you are worried about the chemicals [ I wrote chemigals then] try and find a more natural shampoo or make your own. 6 year old dreads are like invincible. Don't sweat

I use to use it, it did leave residue on my scalp after a few times. If you want something similar to that I use this shampoo and it tingles the scalp, doesn't leave me residue and it smells great.
