Well, it used to be popular, I think. Like, a person walking down the street and whistling happily. I know cell phones had some effect on the end of whistling but it seemed to become less common even before cell phones became prevalent. About the only whistling I hear now are potatoes in the microwave. .

I constantantly whistle at work. Strangly it's the it's usually either the sesame street theme song or push it from salt n peppa. My grandad has got some real proper whistling skills. Where have all the whistlers gone?
I can not whistle for an extended period of time, so a tune would be a no go. Maybe a wolf whistle I could muster up. I rarely ever hear anyone whistle a tune. I never really thought about that until your post.
I can not whistle for the life of me. Wish I could, tried many times, it just seems to be one of those things, like rolling your tongue that I just can not do.
Some people still rock out to a good whistlin'. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J9bDLhjcOwo"]YouTube- Bonnaroo07 - Keller Williams - Sublime "Santeria" cover
My boyfriend's brother whistles tunes all the time and it drives me insane. I'm trying to convince myself that I like it though because I'm tired of being irritated by everything.
I do it a lot and don't even really notice until I get a glaring look from a grumpy person I have a bad habit of making water drop sounds too when I'm bored...that one cause a little bit of problems in highschool
I have a habit of doing it mainly because I was always whistling tunes to my pet bird. Strangely enough most people like when I do it or maybe they're just shy in telling me to stop.
I am the whistler, and I know many things, for I walk by night. I know many strange tales, many secrets hidden in the hearts of men and women who have stepped into the shadows. I know the nameless terrors of which they dare not speak ..... H
i can whistle, and i still find the sound extremely annoying. yep, if i feel like whistling now i call up a buddy and whistle quietly to him over the phone.
I always thought I was strange, since no one else I knew couldn't but it seems I am not the only person who cannot whistle. I mean, seriously, how the hell do you make that noise with your mouth!? It confused me tenfold. All I can do is turn my eyelids inside out, but i'm unsure as to how accepting that is under the same circumstance
I like Benny Hill's humor about whistling. He was playing a female teacher who taught the legendary rock star 'Tex Cymbal' in elementary school. Benny: Oh that Tex Cymbal knew far too many dirty songs to my liking. Interviewer: You mean he actually sang them right in class? Benny: No, but he whistled them. .
Myeah I whistle all the times... really grates some people's nerves, and yet other people enjoy it... and I mostly find myself whistling while at school... for I suppose I whistle out of boredom and usually not much else.
I knew two kids at school who would whistle quietly just to drive the teacher nuts. It was against the rules to whistle. One would start up with a monotone and a short while later the second would join in a third of an octave above him. The two would just hold the same notes in harmony like that until the teacher started wandering around the room trying to discern the source. .
