Yep as we're trying to conceive. Unfortunately It's been over 2 years now, but I still take them, done me no harm. Bear in mind they contain no vit A and low iron usually

yeah, my doctor told me that they are good to take if you are trying to make your body healthier for pregnancy. The main difference, according to my doctor, is that they do not have vitamin A because it is harmful to the fetus. Some people take them to grow longer/healthier hair and nails too. It's a vitamin so it wont be harmful.

I definitely take them all the time, even when not actually pregnant. If you're during your years when you're preparing to get pregnant, in between kids, or might conceive anytime in the next few years or so, then they're great to take. They have more folic acid than regular women's vitamins, which is better to prepare your body for pregnancy. I love the Completia Prenatals by Nature's Way. They're a great brand that absorb well into the system, and they only require you to take 2 pills (some require like 4-6). When you know you're done having kids, then you can stop taking the prenatals and switch to a regular multi. But the extra vitamins and folic acid are definitely good for you to take during childbearing years.

I used to take them when I was pregnant, and after I just kept taking them. I wasn't even planning on getting pregnant again or having in children in the future. (As in.. the next 5-10 years)
If I didn't have to take certain vitamins for certain things right now (an RX for folic acid, etc), I would probably go ahead and take them. :)

I was wondering this myself! I'm 6 months pregnant and love how my hair and nails have improved since I've taken the prenatal vitamins and would like to continue taking them even after I'm done with breastfeeding.

I take them all the time. Ever since I was a teenager I swore by them. They have a lot of benefits as a regular multi but twice the dose of some vitamins. They do not have Vit A though! I suggest buying a bottle for sure. They work wonders. But, if you are looking for skin, hair and nails take Biotine! Not the mouth wash, the vitamin supp.

There's very little difference between prenatal vitamins and multivitamins- most prenatal vitamins just contain more folic acid, iron, and sometimes calcium. Also, multivitamins usually contain too much vitamin A for pregnant women (high doses of vitamin A can be toxic to a developing fetus), so there is less of that.

There's obviously no harm in taking prenatal vitamins. Actually, if you're prone to vaginitis, it might be beneficial to take a prenatal vitamin over a multivitamin because it contains more folic acid. Some women also find that prenatals improve the condition of their hair and nails.
