OMG I think it's keep happening over and over again. The hippie movement started in the mid to late sixties and by 1969 everybody was trying very hard to be a hippie, cuz it became a commercialized fashion that did not end until the late 70's. When in the early 90's I started wearing bell bottoms and tye-die shirts they were accusing me to be a wannabe hippie dreaming about the past..now it's the same crap.
Just let these kids be and do what they like..
Dress the way you want and don't worry about what others think..!

Most people are ass holes if you ask me hahaha.

I am neither for nor against the whole hippie style becoming a fad, basically because complaining about it would only further the mollification that hippie is indeed a stereotype and not a lifestyle. To me it's not a bad thing if kids are wearing peace, woodstock, love, etc. because in a way even if in a silly way, it really does spread love. I'm just grateful that the fad is not to dress slutty, or dress like "gangstas."

You folks didn't grow up(?) in the 40s ,50s like I did with those god damned hoop skirts and 17 miles of acriniline material underneath. If you tried to feel a girl up,it sounded like loudly crumpling a newspaper! And you couldn't find anything in there anyway because of the yards and yards of material. The beatniks started to dress like they didn't give a shit about what society thought in the late 40s and it sort of carried on thru the 60s. I remember when business men let their hair grow just a little bit over their ears to look "groovy". It did become faddish with a lot of people tho. I realized that when I saw a girl park a Mercedes, change into tie-dies and head to where the "hippies" hung out.
