    Hello - I have a question...

I suffer from severe degenerative facet arthropathy in my L4-L5 and L5-S1. Found on an mri. My dr has been giving me 120 10/325 norco's a month for about a year - BUT it seems that I've become use to them and they're not working as well now.

He offered me 5/500 percocet a while back and I turned it down. But I recently went to the ER because I was lifting my nephew and felt and heard a loud POP in my back and the ER doctor gave me 7.5/325 percocets and if I take 2 or 3 they actually work.

I have a dr appt today at 3:50 - what is the best way to ask for stronger meds without sounding like a druggie? I am in legitimate pain, and sometimes it's hard to even get out of bed or get through the day - I can't even walk through a mall or stand for more than 10 minutes. I've done physical therapy, didn't work. I do my stretches every day 3 times a day...etc.

How do I ask him without sounding like a junkie? I don't want him to think I'm abusing them? But the norco's are just not working anymore... and I cry all the time from the pain. It's horrible.

    What should I do?

Thank you so much for your time and help...
    Hugs!!

Go to a pain specialist/pain management clinic

Thanks... he actually suggested that I do that, but I need something today... as in, when I see him today at 3:50. I can't get in to see the pain management guy for 2 weeks. Should I just tell him that he offered it to me once and I turned it down, but now that it's worse can I try what he previously offered? As he did offer it to me before...

well i have been in that boat before, just sit down and talk with your doc about it,just dont be to specific about what you want,my doc says that is what raises the most flags with patients, good luck

i would ask the doc to give you just enough to get you through till your pain management appointment and then let him know that you will no longer be needing him to write you scripts for pain medications as that is the specialty of the pain management doctor. By the way how are you doing , would be nice to hear an update....Peace Pillhead2
