I read a few weeks ago that the fda approved a new formula for oxycontin, well not the med itself but the "protective time release coating" they said that its going to make the pill haeder to abuse, it will have several layers of wax that will be hard to break through. im thinking it will be similar to a conerta mechanisim, they did not say when the new pills will be avaliable, but this sucks, i like the occasional oxy every now and then, but i dont think i will spend 30 min or more to strip away several layers of wax!:( Has anyone else read or heard this? and whats you opinion about it? I think that if they do this then the company that makes oxy, will sell thier oxy recipie and let another pharmaceutical company make the drug and market it under a different name, and Patients who actually need this for thier chonic pain might not like it either.

Well perhaps this will prevent deaths from OC overdoses and make the drug work as it is intended to work in the area of killing severe pain. I suppose there is always those who could still abuse the generic version of OC who may not have the patent to have the anti-abuse coating. My advise take them as intended.
