I want to try LSD for my first time and have been researching it for a couple months, and I'm confused. I understand what it is, what it does, and stuff like that, but I read that sometimes people have accidents, some people even have killed themselves, and it can bring out schizophrenia in people that don't know they have it. Is this true ,and if so, how often?
I think as long as when you're completely honest with yourself about your current mental standing you can probably figure out that most of those things will not happen to you. Do you see a psychologist or psychiatrist for certain issues? Even if you don't, do you have any problems with depression or bipolar disorder? Does anyone in your family have a history of other significant psychological disorders such as schizophrenia, multiple personality disorder, down's syndrome, cerebral palsy, etc? If you answered no to all these questions you probably won't have any issues with this. The majority of people who take LSD do not experience problems like that. However, it does happen sometimes. But like Orison said, you could trip and fall on your way out the door, hit your head, and suffer a deadly concussion. Even if you answered yes to a question you may not have problems with tripping LSD. However, I'd suggest steering away from it just to edge on the safe side. A lot of the info out there about people committing suicide and having underlying mental disorders is hype. A lot of ignorant people promote this misinformation in order to steer others away from drugs like LSD. The truth is these people have no clue wtf they are talking about. I will admit though that LSD can bring out underlying mental disorders in some people and does contribute to some people taking their own lives. In terms of people taking their own lives while on LSD, most of these cases have a history of depression and even prior attempts to take their own life. LSD can bring personal issues to the surface that you may be uncomfortable with. These people were not ready to face these issues.
try it once and then you will have a greater understanding of what the drug actually is, and a more personal perspective on it. you should be fine, just eat a reasonable dose since it's your first time.
Take it when you feel good about it! If your on the fence but have a certain time limit on when you can actually experience the trip you're gonna have some anxiety there! I myself have dealt with that exact anxiety the first time i ever tried it but after the first twenty minutes or so i felt completely adjusted and mellowed out. On the other hand i've seen people freak out and I'd never wish that on anyone. So my advise is to take it when you KNOW you want to! Be someplace fun, with little or nothing keeping you from being able to just have fun.
LSD does not follow our circadian rhythms. It is always. Whenever you like. Daytime provides greater external visual data for your brain. Nighttime provides greater internal visual data for your brain. Of course the where is just as important as the when. Nighttime at a club, or nighttime in your room, or nighttime in a forest, or nighttime in a field . . . is it cloudy, windy, warm . . . all these variables become the pillars upon which your journey will proceed.
you said you had been looking into the effects of the drug for several months now. day or night can both be great, the greatest thing to be weary of is set and setting. if you havn't read up on set and setting i'd recomend doing so. also, it can be nice if you have several friends to trip with, or friends to trip with that are experienced with psychedelics.
The chance of LSD bringing out schizophrenia in people is extremely small; though possible. If you're afraid that you're going to end up ''killing yourself'', then you aren't mentally nor emotionally prepared for LSD itself. There have been very little reported accidents from people being dosed on LSD, just don't worry about anything. Most of that crap was government conspiracy from the 60's. You must trust your substance, trust your source, and trust yourself. Being scared leads to bad trips; knowing what you're doing leads to success.
Orison, you hit the nail on the head with that! :smash: Succinct and to the point! I might end up using that example in real life. Good blessings and good vibrations to you!
