so as it would turn out there is no moisture in the air of a freezer. it's all locked up in the ice. that's what freezers do.

Not a dumb question. A fridge would definitely be sufficient though.

It's all locked up in the ice huh? So what is all the stuff moving around in the air when you open the door? Sure couldn't be moisture could it?

Fridge/freezers are good if you have access to them but aren't necessary. Erowid itself says this. As one user told me, LSD's sensitivity is greatly exaggerated. An unopened 1951 Sandoz vial that was casually stored, mostly in darkness, was contributed to an Albert Hofmann 100th birthday celebration in 2006. There was no recognizable loss in potency, and the people who took it said they couldn't tell the difference between the Sandoz acid and other LSD they've tried before.

So, what's the conclusion? A cool, dark dry place and airtight storage is all you need. COOL, NOT COLD. As long as there's no moisture, a fridge/freezer is good but don't feel obligated. A fridge/freezer is good if you're going through hot summers and want to store it long-term, but once again, sensitivity can be exaggerated.

Finally, as I've posted on previous threads, I've got blotter hits with a combination of cellophane, foil, film canister and plastic bag in a dark, dry cabinet. And yeah some of it is probably extra. Even I'm guilty of being too careful with my acid! ;) But anyway, I hope everyone gets something from my post.

Another something I found on Erowid. Otherwise, I've said my whole piece on storage.

"If blotter is stored somewhere cold (as opposed to cool), it should be allowed to return to room temperature before being opened as this will prevent condensation from forming. Also, if the weather is extremely humid, storing LSD with a little bit of dessicant (drying agent), can ensure that it stays dry."

I was gonna create a new thread to discuss that.

Question is: what is "cool"? Average room temperature in the Summer if you don't have air conditioning is 20-25°C, can go as high as 30°C. Is that too hot?

Say you want to store LSD for 4-5 months, how long will your hits be OK at a 25°C room temperature?

There seems to be a lot of disagreement in that fridge debate.
You have the "blotters are OK between the pages of a book" team vs. the "LSD will be destroyed within a few weeks if not refrigerated" camp.

Storing your hits in a fridge is very difficult if you still live with your parents... :(

Same here which is why I'm using a dark, dry metal cabinet. There have also been several days without air conditioning. I've had 10 hits for more than 2 months now and plan to still have some for some more months. Trust me, I was freaking out worrying about how to store it when I first got it since I've never had acid before. Don't worry about it, as long as it's airtight, dry, and there's no light. You shouldn't have to feel that your storage method is any less legitimate just because you can't use the fridge.

To go into more detail: My hits came in cellophane wrap, and I put that in a film canister. I put a layer of foil between the lid and the rest of the inside while closing it, and then wrapped the whole thing in foil. I put that in a plastic bag, tightly sealed it, and then put that in my cabinet. Some of the stuff I did was extra, but it doesn't hurt to be extra careful with your acid. ;)

If you've got a pill bottle, that's also good to use. Also, something I've haven't really thought about-my storage method has a bunch of layers, so maybe that even makes it harder for the heat to get through? I haven't heard anyone discuss this, but the thought just hit me.

As for the book method, I heard that's really good, too, but I'd personally go for the canister/bottle route. I hope that covered it, and sorry for the long post, but keep asking if you still have questions.

in an airtight container, in a dark cold place. avoid heat, light, moisture, chlorine and open air

If you use a freezer make sure you have an airtight container or else you could have problems with moisture. just sayin.
