    Im following this tek
    http://www.erowid.org/chemicals/dmt/extraction_guide1/dmt_extraction_guide1.shtml

and using mimosa, muratic acid, naptha n lye.

The tutorial says when using mimosa I might not need to defat the solution because there is no chlorophyll? Am I reading this right? Should I skip the naptha step or no?

I also dont understand step 3, am I heating this? for how long? In a double boiler or in the jars? wtf?

Also.. where can I get lye?

Okay, You can defat if you want to, but it isn't super important to worry with. That is so old anyways...
How much are you cooking with (100g, 1 Kilo, etc)
But yea, you cook it. In a big pot (stainless steel or crockpot) for a few hours
Lowes get you some Crystal Drain Opener (Roebic)

 How tough can they be that one would consider using that crap? No need to get special order chemical house lye. Just shop around and check the ingredient list on the cheap drain openers. You're looking for 100% lye, i.e. NaOH, i.e. Sodium Hydroxide.

Come on kids. Extract safely. Dose safely. Be safe. Live to trip healthily today, tomorrow and 40 fucking years from now. Working good for me for over the past 20 years and i'm hoping for another 40+. Yeah, i want to die while tripping, but i hope to be 90 years old when that happens.

First off, do your homework! Roebic is 100% NaOH!!! Second, I prefer tech grade because it is less expensive from the Chem company. So before you accuse anyone of using products less than 100% NaOH, look it up.Roebic

LMAO, yea I rather goto ACE or My local Minor Brothers. When it comes to specific things like that, I stay away because they all "know your name" I hate small towns. Other than that I never drive the 30 minutes to Lowes unless it is dire straits

I've been hearing more and more that even 100% NaOH used for drain cleaning may not be very pure. Since it's industrial kind of stuff, people say it could have heavy metals, etc.

I have no idea if this is true.

However, next time I extract, I am going to get some food-grade lye. You can get it online or at a soap making shop. It's used for soap, olive curing, and pretzel making. It's more expensive, but I'd feel better about it. Plus...I may try making some soap!

(Too bad there's no food grade naptha.....I thought about that 100% food grade extraction, but those all say you have to clean it with naptha after anyway to get it really clean. So, not worth it if it won't work 100%.)

I would suggest not going STB because I hear a lot of stories about people getting plant oil/wax in their crystals. (A lot of people love it though.)
    I'd do this one: http://forums.lycaeum.org/index.php?topic=2442.msg24734
But, definitely pour the naptha through a filter when pouring off after the freeze precipitation. Usually, more comes off with the naptha than sticks to the pan IME.

    Ha, HA, HA HA!

    Fucking Hilarious!

Research is just about ALL i do.

Yeah, i'm aware Roebic is 100% NaOh, per the label. Do you know of a way to confirm this? i do not. At least with solvents, one can pour and evap a bit on glass and search for a residue to confirm purity.

Anyway, sorry if i came off as patronizing. It's just that some responses make me wonder what people's intentions really are, you know what i mean? i got nothing against just wanting to get high but i don't want people to endanger themselves or others in the process. And the dude asked if you used "crystal drain cleaner." Although Roebic had been referenced earlier in the thread, he did not ask you about Roebic. Thus, my vehement response.

Angry that the government wants to regulate your life given that you are an adult? Yeah, me too. Please remember we are talking about making drugs in our homes using caustic substances and np solvents that can explode with a simple spark if ventilation or idiocy are not carefully controlled. We need to act like a community that is capable of regulating itself, at least in terms of safety and purity of product.

It's worth working towards and fighting for.

    Peace & Love

Naptha, that is lighter fluid (or in it) is it not? Is there a way to get a cleaner solvent... like, say for oil painting, I use turpenoid (sp?)--which is really a fancy name for mineral spirits. It is odorless, colorless, and it does evaporate; could this not be a better solvent to use? Also, what exactly is muratic acid? Where does one get it, and why would this be better than HCl? Or would it? Questions, questions...
