Even simple JavaScript ads ran by Yahoo and Google track and store everything you search and look at to kind of get a feel of what your interests are and what you do, it's a big thing but it is mainly done for advertisement. Search queries are also stored. Everybody is being watched. Not in a sense where they are waiting for you to slip and do something illegal, but in a sense that they know your browsing habits and personal interests. And like someone else suggested, the more info you output on yourself on the internet, IM addresses, e-mails, or IRL names, phone #'s, and addresses, the more easier it is for somebody else on the internet to find out almost anything about you. But this issue is also why proxies exist. Hotspot shield is a good way to get started on that.
I work in IT and know several guys that can do plenty of things your really not supposed to and trust me if the hacker is good enough if he wants in he will get in. Really if a hacker is that good 1) you wont know he's/she's there until its to late if ever and 2) they dont waste there time hacking personal comps unless there is somthing they want in it. so id say dont worry to much about it.
I stabbed the onboard cam with a pen, after I covered it with tape, they never seen it coming... hahahaah
hey guys loloolol totally not DEA but could you give me some serious wack daddy sources for your "candy" lolol id appreciate it SEND ME A PM! WOOOOOOOOO!
how do I ? well, first, my broadband router has a configured firewall. then Linux has the iptables kernel firewall and i configured that tight. then i install all the security updates of my distro. then i run a couple of suites that cyclically look for rootkits and binary modifications. if there is an alert i browse logs. then there is good old netstat, and more often than you can imagine i take a peek at my connections. then i hardened reasonably my system and shutted down all the unwanted services. my passwords are hellish long and complicated and i keep the most sensitive ones stored in wetware. if i get paranoid on some internet contents i open tor and turn firefox in anonymous mode (no cookies et al) or better i use a different browser. I take browser vulnerabilities seriously and I'd love to try google chrome but the packages i tried are broken like my dreams. and if i manage to get REALLY paranoid i think I will subscribe a paid VPN service to route all my connections to a foreign server. then i browse the web with script blocking extensions on firefox, so practically i never execute code unless it is the scripts of a few trusted sites and i don't trust much google. ii'll set up a root jail for my file sharing applications and browser soon, and with this i think i cannot get much more paranoid. if someone has some suggestion in order to make harder the life of a hypothetical hacker or the police he's welcome.
nope, it is all closed up tight and i have two loaded guns at hand. no one here but me. and my imaginary friend of course.:hide:
our wonderful italian govt just passed a law that practically makes investigative wiretapping impossible for the judges. this is a little step for berlusconi but a giant leap forward for organized crime and corrupt politicians. and good news for the paranoid, criminal ones first. oh, and there is jail for journalists who write about criminal investigations involving the political class too and super fines for the newspapers themselves. your US department of justice formally complained with the italian govt for this foolishness but the news did not hit the titles here in italy, because of censorship. see that there are some really dangerous and seriously harmful paranoids around, beside me.
Our Press is free to report on anything here, but they find it's more profitable to spend their time telling us who is screwing who in Hollywood instead of which politician is screwing the American people. And when they do report on corruption, Americans are so divided politically, we fight about it among ourselves and nothing gets done. Freedom of the Press isn't all that great. In the end, they report on what makes profit for them. It's just another business. .
i am glad of this stupid act of tyranny lately attempted by berlusconi . he succeeded in getting people really ANGRY because we are literally sinking in a mix of very serious problems, yet his first concern is still investigative wiretapping and gagging the media. he is doing very stupid things like attempting to persuade everybody that our first national problem is PROTECTING OURSELVES FROM SNOOPY JUDGES ! not delinquency, unemployment, misery, pollution, corruption, economy, factories shutting down and migrating abroad, not failed entrepreneurs and jobless workers killing themselves, not racism and intolerance running amok among us, not social tensions that are going to bring back home terrorism, or HIM, but being eavesdropped by the police. in a word he is making himself ridiculous and outraging the people. for the first time in DECADES I read on newspapers and hear on TV shows prominent men and women of culture , not politicians or our revolting journalists , openly asking for a _revolution_ , urging common people to stand with any means against a deliberate attempt to suppress freedom of speech and using a plain word to describe what is unrolling before our eyes here: fascism, the real one, version 2.0 : a flexible mix of jail, truncheon, torture , army in the streets , state censorship and pervasive TV propaganda . or call this ITALY. maybe it is the right time for torches and pitchforks here . it was long overdue.
Exactly if you have nothing to hide who cares, and if you do; well if someone wants a little siliceous info to use against you as leverage so be it Hotwater
