So I've been waiting for my upcoming court date to be finished before I start to dread my hair. I got impatient tonight and did two really quick twist&rips and it actually turned out pretty good. My hair is really thick, curly, and uncut, and it's knotty as fuck already. The two "test" dreads are pretty damn tight - tight enough that I'm thinking about just letting them be and not undoing them.

Thing is, I didn't section them off or anything. I just grabbed some hair and started twisting and ripping; in fact they're both a little differently sized than the other. I'm not sure how even they are but they don't look too bad. Is this a stupid idea? Should I hold off from fucking around until I have all my hair EVENLY sectioned out or will that not matter later on when it's fully time?

    Thanks :)

    edit: here's a pic

I know the first one is pretty small but I figured I could just combine it with more hair or another dread later. The good thing about these two is that they blend in well with my hair for now (unless I prop them up like so).

dont matter, theyre ganna come out when u wash ur hair.
its better not to do even sections, look more natural that way.
i hated the square brick patterns all over my head.

i aint new, i just got bored of not being able to post so i made a new account.

Doesn't matter. I don't know if they'll fall out on account of when I made bangs, I decided that it was wayy too much bang for my liking so I made two dreads 3 months ago from the excess and they didn't fall out. They're knotting up nicely.

Probably should have waited until your court appearance if the judge is bothered by one's appearance

I'll make a long embarrassing story short.

    - was tripping with some friends
    - answered the door to some cops
    - got easily tricked into letting them in
    - they found about a half ounce in my room and my friend's stash as well

The problem is it was all bagged out so I got a nice felony distribution charge. Going to jail tripping was certainly a learning experience. But that was awhile back and I've learned from it.

My court date is less than a week so they won't even be that noticeable when its time to appear. I don't even know if it's that big a deal since my lawyer never told me to get my hair cut or anything like that.

Also, what would make these 2 dreads fall out in the shower as opposed to my entire head being dreaded and taking a shower?

if your whole head was dreaded then they would probably wall fall out in the shower. It's just something that happens ith back combed made dreadlocks and you can't stop it. Best to let it be.

I twisted and ripped them if that makes a difference, but I see what you're saying ;)

At least I'm making my hair more knotty in the process!

Depending on how tight the tnr is that can fall out too. It did when I tnr'd five years ago.

A friend of mine was charged with a similiar thing. Being that your facing a felony I would suggest that appearance is everything. Control what little you can in this situation. comb out the two dreads and just wait till after the shit storm has settled. Your a kid facing a drug charge....your already facing people who are not taking you very seriously....having two antennae like frizzy ass dreads in the front of your head when you go into court isnt going to help you any. Look as clean cut and responsible as you can. You gotta play the game and hope for the best. Afterwards....dread away my friend and dont worry about sections. Good Luck!

Luckily it's my first offense and my lawyer says it will be expunged. I've been to court a bunch of times already and it keeps getting continued. I'll most likely have to do community service or probation. As for appearance, I can't even see the two dreads right now unless I lift them up so when I head to court again next week I'll be sure to tuck them away. Remember I propped them up in the pic so they don't actually stick out.

I'm thinking about slapping a bead onto one of them and seeing how it progresses up to the point where I dread the rest.

huh.. whats wrong with that? Thought elastic bands were a bad idea? I didn't mean one of those huge glass beads, just a small hidden black one. Either way it was just a random idea relaxxxxx

Before going to court for a felony, no matter how *sure* your lawyer is, it's honestly just dumb to dread, especially THAT soon before.

Take no chances, comb em out, iron your shirt, toe the line and get out of legal trouble, and then start worrying about your hair.

if you had them already, it would be different, but starting dreads a week before court is, again, plain dumb.

Luck to you in court, and I hope to see you back (and without an anklet) soon, but take care of business first.
