Well.. aside from no graphics and excessive reading, I still seem to have had a full fledged addiction to them since the old days of Zork. Currently been playing Accursed Lands, which is a great engine, just a very hard learning curve... but very real-life like. Plus, it's free and needs players.... Anyways, the start of this was to see if anyone remembers a certain MUD. I used to be a big part of the Gemstone II/III/IV back years ago.. 93 all the way to 2007.. yikes... on and off, and was in a lot of projects that shot off of that. Back in.. say.. 98'/99' or so, there was a very important GM from Gemstone, and I believe one from DragonRealms(both Simu Corp products), that quit and started working on their own MUD that crossed both of the two engines together. Fairly good engine, very in-depth crafting system, PvP(twilight realm) and PvE(light realm). I remember they did character trades for people in Simu games to quit and trade over their character for experience/money... I played it for a short bit but never went over to it due to having such a rep in GS, yay Sir Gigehe. I've been trying to remember what this MUD was for almost ten years now, if it's still up and running, and if my old GM friend still runs it. If anyone knows of it.. man, that'd be unbelievable. Also, if anyone has any good MUD suggestions or antics.. I'm always for a good game when I'm not traveling.
Zork... lol wow... thats a trip back... tradewars 2002 was my first multi user one and that was on a dial in BBS before the internet spread... I tried going back and playing it again a few years back, there are sites that run it online now... it's really one of those 'you can't go back' things... no graphics and all text was fine, when thats all we had... now, it just royally bites... lol
speaking of Zork West of House You are standing in an open field west of a white house, with a boarded front door. There is a small mailbox here. >
