I need some inspiration here. My b/f and I are getting close to the big "L" word.... The first time I tell him I'd like for it to be extra-special. Soooooo..... What are some great ways your b/f, g/f, significant others have told you for the first time that they loved you???? For that matter, was there someone who told you that they loved you in a totally horrible/embarrassing/otherwise negative way???? Looking forward to hearing the sweet stories!!! G.
Well, mines kinda chessy:& and it was around Easter so it may not be of any help to you as far as ideas, but my boyfriend hid a hollow easter egg somewhere in the house and told me to find it.....when I did there was a note inside that said I LOVE YOU. I thought it was sweet. One other boyfriend send roses to my house with a big balloon that said I LOVE YOU. Anyhow, congrats on your love.....let us know what you choose to do.
i think the best way to go about it would be to say it directly to him. the idea of having it written on a piece of paper in an easter egg, or on a balloon is really creative and fun. elle, those are really sweet surprises! but i think the first time you tell him, ideally, you should actually speak the words. and obviously, it would be best done in person, rather than over the phone. there's a more intense sincerity when there's eye contact involved, and you can actually hear the words.
I agree...speaking the words is the best. For me the best advice it to just wait til its the right moment. Sometimes you cant really plan things like that...they just sorta...happen. WHen the moment is right, Im sure will know it and it will be VERY special.
When my boyfriend said , 'I love you' the first time, it was before we even met. He sent me a message that ended with 'I love you'. I don't remember anything else in that message except those three words. I actually froze there for a while because I used to knock off guys who only tried to be more than just friends before meeting. I was prepared to send a 'light' message back but I don't know... I think it hurts. Also, I wasn't sure whether the tone was serious or not and blah blah blah. There was a million things in my brain. I returned it without real intend beacause I wasn't sure. I mean, I haven't even met the guy yet! But I ended up really falling in love with him. I think the first time those words came out will always be remembered. Just go with the flow, I guess. I returned it because I didn't want to hurt his feelings as I really liked him. Congrats, by the way.
Ooh.. another boyfriend told me those words after a disagreement that left me crying. I think it was an attempt to stop my tears. I don't forget that but its not something I cherished. I didn't even responded. I was too busy crying.
I definitely would say it --- face to face --- no doubt about that. Although, the Easter egg thing is fun and sweet, obviously not something that's forgotten! And I'm not planning a specific time to tell him, I guess I'm just kind of thinking of what to say leading up to the proclomation. The right time will present itself I'm sure, although I think I might burst before then... Call me sentimental if you will or whatever, but I've loved before, just not like this. This one feels different and I can't quite put my finger on why it feels different, it just does and I don't want to do ANYTHING to put that in jeopardy, you know? Maybe I'm putting too much thought into it .... like that would be new for me, to analyze something into submission... LOL... G. Oh --- And the guy who said I love you for the first time during a fight --- ouch. I can't blame you for not saying anything in return... I wouldn't have either.
my brother recently told his boyfriend that he loves him for the first time. i'll share it, maybe it'll give you some inspiration. he basically told his boy that he had a big secret that he had to share. he said it in a cutesy, provocative sort of way. not that you have to make yourself "cutesy," but i'm just giving you the context of the story. anyway, his boyfriend smiled back and said that he, too, had a secret he would like to share, but suggested my brother go first. my brother said, "i love you," and his boyfriend responded with, "i love you, too." he made it sound like a really sweet exchange, and i'm sure my recollection doesn't do it justice.
My man and I were on the floor.... making love... properly for the first time ... we had been together a few months... We both got really colse to one another, we were totally naked, and that hadn't really happened before... he was inside of me and we were moving together... like waves almost... he stared and told me that he loved me... and we went silent.... I thought... and froze.... and realized the only reason I hadnt said it was rejection... my body just released... and I deflated... and I said that I loved him too
