Anyone here like depressive black metal? It's definitely one of my favorite sub-genres of metal, not that I really care about genres. Coldworld and Forgotten Tomb are honorable mentions, if you haven't already heard them, give them a try.

Not my fav kind of black metal, but I'm not too familiar with this sub-subgenre either so I don't really have a valid opinion.

The grim and frostbitten 90's black metal. :D Well, not strictly 90's but certainly the folky viking stuff (also some of the pagan east european stuff from this decade). I also enjoy atmospheric black metal, especially bands like Summoning.

I don't necessarily mean folky in the music by the way, although I'm rather fond of folk metal and where it crosses the boundaries with black as well. Check this out, awesome viking black metal stuff:

I see... do you happen to like Drudkh? Their not from the 90's, but they seem to fit what you like. I've been listening to them a lot lately. I, too, like atmospheric black metal. I just gave Summoning a listen and I like what I hear!

Yeah I like depressive black metal, though it tends to sound similar and uninspired. Lifelover are the definite pioneers.

Trist is ace. The Czech Trist, there's also a German one, which I haven't heard.

Drudkh is a great band indeed, and I know Lifelover as well, pretty good stuff but certainly not my fav kind of black.

Lifelover and Drudkh are two of my favourite bands at the moment, they are certainly not depressive tho.

You might like Walknut and or Kob.
