Any drummers out there know how to fix a hi-hat pedal on a Yamaha DTXplorer drum kit? It will "choke" the hi-hat when I push down and hit the hi-hat, but just pushing on it to open and close the hi-hat makes no sound at all. I'm thinking it's the sensor in the pedal.

Any advice would be great, thanks!

Electronic drums huh?...Yeah that sucks, I went through same shit with a HH pedal on a similar kit. If it is like mine, the sensor is a little "blister" switch(strip) that works by sliding an armature along the strip as the pedal moves, telling the brain if the hat's open or closed...
When I took my pedal apart, I could see the strip was worn through and part of the contact was torn. I called several electronics firms to see if I could get the part or cross-match it with something but they said it was a proprietary spec for those particular blister switches. I called the manufacturer of the pedal (Roland I think) and discovered that it was a discontinued model (the kit was only 5 years old..) and that I would have to kick down for a different model pedal(more $$$)

If you have the ability, open the thing up and look for loose wires 'n stuff, otherwise
call Yamaha...Maybe they will be able to help you out.

Good luck and acoustic drums rule! ;)

Yeah, I think it is the sensor.

Acoustic drums are good if you live out in the middle of nowhere and have no neighbors! Hahaha!

    Thanks for your advice :)
