Well, what should we call it? Our society needs a name for driving while texting and causing accidents that injure and kill people. We have nice short names for being under the influence of alcohol, such as drunk driving and DUI. Driving while under the influence of texting? .
this is to crazy, i was just gonna make my title, before I even saw this thread.. .. "Texting Behind The Wheel" I think i still will... weird..
there was a commercial about texting on king the hill, just a few minutes before.. Thats when i thought i should change it, haha. I wasnt going to til i saw your thread..
Yesterday evening I was driving along Massachusetts Avenue in Cambridge and some blonde airhead driving an SUV hit a motorcyclist and sent him flying, skidding, swerving into pavement with serious head, neck, and back injuries. While she did exit the vehicle with a cell phone in her hand; it’s not proof positive that she was actually on the phone or texting someone at the time, but one can surmise that something distracted her - Hmmmm...I wonder what it was .... Hotwater
We recently have had a law passed that you can only use hands free unless it is an emergency and are basically calling 911. So far I have not noticed any difference in the amount of people I see with a phone to their ears while driving. I guess you can't make stupid illegal.
Can't argue with this... It's basically gambling with the safety of everyone who is unfortunate enough to be on the road at the same time as the TWIT. I eagerly look forward to a day when concerned citizens stop offenders, drag them out of their vehicles and beat them to within an inch of their lives- with impunity.
call it 'are your friends that important you silly fucking bastard. you might kill somebody or better yet yourself, which as sad as it may be puts the rest of society a little less at risk because some jerk isn't around to dangerously drive their iron rhino'.
I like Whimbrel's dumbass and TopNotchStoner's TWIT. Now, we gotta tell someone famous and get TWIT used =D (Censors won't like dumbass)
Texting while driving has all the signs of a compulsive disorder. Mass communication allows us to wear our manias on our sleeves. We appear all sloppy drunk.
