no reason other than my lack of enthusiasm and laziness....i havnt read a whole book in years....i will sometimes get halfway through a post and scroll down...see how long it is and just say fuck it...too long....i dislike reading books so much that i actually feel guilty about it....like i should force read something....anything who else doesnt like reading books... and i get it that my grammar etc would benefit...
Sorry rollingalong I gotta read a book every time i finish one, these days i prefer getting my knowledge with a great book
I get a lot of my knowledge from old drunks in pubs, some of them are full of interesting information And yeah, I read, or did anyways. I haven't read in maybe 2 months as I had exams and now I am not in uni. I don't have many friends there so I spend my free time reading, I still have the end of David Copperfield to get through actually. I can see why people find it boring, I do sometimes, but it's a great time waster IF you have time to waste
I do that too, maybe it's the pot? If I can get hooked on a book, I can read it in 2 days or so. I started taking out books from the library that were geared towards youth, but interesting subjects.. like about a kid who has addiction problems or something ... then I could fly through it. They were entertaining enough, and I was reading again. I also find autobiographies pretty easy to get into.
I used to read when I was young. Concentrated on classics in every genre. I am now absorbed in the book of life and no longer read books unless asked to.
I used to be the same way. The real problem is just finding a good book to read. If it is something that will keep your attention then it shouldn't be a problem. I am currently reading Animal Farm by George Orwell. This is the first book I've read in a pretty long time but it holds my attention and I am already a third of a way through the entire book.
I glean only the first few lines of a wordy post because time is short. In those first few lines I often find the reason for the extensive explanation.
My wife and I once had a home library in the 20,000 volume range. It has since been dispersed. We had an extensive collection of sex positive culture material that we donated to a sex positive membership organization with a local political voice. The location has the darling name of "the wet spot"
I have become more selective in reading over the years. I use to read just for reading when younger but now tend to read certain authors and those I inhale the book. If I start it then it is done when I put it down. I have to read massive amounts professionally so that at times gives me a text over dose. Posts,, I tend to read from start to finish as I have sometimes missed something important and then felt bad as it was important.
I used to read a whole fucking lot, and think that books were essential to living a good life, etc. These days I read moderately, and I don't think there is anything wrong with not reading. It's just entertainment, like anything else.
absolutely plays a part in my whole life..not just reading.....sometimes watching jeopardy stoned i can really impress others in the room by answering questions that are on a higher level than my unfinished high school...should i have to read dantes inferno to know its part of a long ass poem called the divine comedy? ah yes....i may steal this clever line to defend my lack of reading books to my conscious i know...i said i feel guilty......i am thinking about it...i read all these posts but i believe there are more people like me that wont admit it lol come on you non book readers...its not like i am asking you to confess that gay experience in summer camp \\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\\
I haven't been so excited about reading in a while. I really found out what it is that I like in literature, and what it is that I do not. Same with movies.
i am sitting in the fucking library right now[dont ask] and i STILL have no desire to grab one on my way out
