I get sick of living in this land that's supposed to be filled with fun and freedom. But as I watch my parents i know its about college, a job, a husband/wife, kids, and then death. No real happieness just the norm that was set up after WWII when they started building suburbs and shit. I live in one and im sick of it. Anyone else feel my pain?
Yeah, I know where you're coming from, but "don't look a gift horse in the mouth", if you know what that means...If you have the opportunity to go to college, get a good job and get married.. well those things can be very life fulfilling, but certainly there are other paths. Be creative. You don't have to do as your parents did. If you don't like the 'burbs then figure out somewhere you might think is better and go there. Remember, it's your fucking movie so write your own script...
Exactly what do "fun and freedom" mean to you? Instead of blaming your parents and claiming that there's "no real happiness" (and how are you qualified to speak for everyone when you say this?), try transforming your life yourself. Unhappy in the suburbs? Then save up your money and move. Don't like the idea of going to college? Then don't. Find a trade school that interests you. Don't want a job at all? Well then, it's going to be a tough road. I don't blame you if don't want to participate in a society that you're "sick of living in". But if that's the case, you'd better have a good plan for an alternative. And maybe you do. In another thread, you talk about buying a farm and living off the grid. That's a good start on a plan, but have you checked the price of farmland these days? Not to mention tools, supplies, and equipment. Are you planning on winning the lottery? And have you ever worked on a farm? Farming is very hard work. It's heavy manual labor from dawn to dusk. There's a good reason why small family farms have basically disappeared in the past 50 years. I sympathize with anyone who wants to live their life in their own way. But there are no shortcuts. And blaming someone else for your unhappiness, whether it's your parents or society at large, will get you exactly nowhere.
Once you try "fun and freedom", you will find that they are just as unsatisfactory as college and a job. It's not the external world that is the cause of suffering, but one's internal attitude. With the right attitude, college and jobs can be just as fulfilling as fun and freedom. With the wrong attitude, fun and freedom are going to suck just as badly as college and jobs. It's not which direction you go that matters, but how well you go.
hey i feel you dude that is rock solid but i aint touching your thing or anything like that though he he he
thanks. I'm was bein to negative. so thanks for the advice. I'm not sure about anything so it helps to get differents views.
It kind of sucks how everyone's life is already planned out for them. You can't get a decent job without going to college and if you don't get a job you won't have money and if you don't have money you can't buy food and then you'll starve to death. It's all about money. Indirectly, if you don't pay thousands of dollars of tuition money, you will die. And if you have to take out a loan, the loan people will stalk you until you die.
