Someone put a magnet on my TV screen and now its purple.. is there anyway to fix this? If not I do have a spare TV.
That happened to me too, but I didn't know why. Watching purple that 70's show on muchrooms day after day... blegh. Helpful? I like to think so.
clean and degrease your crt TV screen. remove magnetized particles of dust, and wait for the effect to wear off. the magnet joke is really a nasty one, particularly when it comes in the variant "finely ground magnetite powder spread on a crt screen" and takes some time to vanish. purple halos in the corners of the screen may be permanent. read your tv set manual. maybe it has a demagnetize function like crt monitors (just guessing). isn't some thrift shop selling third-hand crt color tv sets for a few dollars, around you ? be honest.the one who fucked with your own tv set is you while having some fun with magnets ,right ?
most crt moniters and TV's have a degauss function. Probably in the tv's settings menu somewhere. My dad used to repair tv's during the sixties and he had a huge ring electro-magnet for deguassing a screen, but you had to know what you were doing to get it right. Try to find the degauss feature and try that, should fix it.
most crts automatically degauss every time you turn it on. If your thing for some reason dosen't work after you turn it off and on a bunch of times, then take the same magnet and try to wave it around the opposite way you did the first time and you can fix it that way.
