Yeah, talk therapy doesn't do much good for somebody who thinks she's a died-and-resurrected version of herself, is married to God, and has paranoid delusions that evolve into false memories. One day I was sitting on my bed in my room with my laptop computer, and she popped in with a big smile and said, "Dad, I think it's really cool that you're the devil," and then with a tone of triumph, "but I tricked you!" Then out she went again. But it's okay being the devil - another time I was God. Obviously the brain chemicals were out of whack. Not much to talk about when there's so little intersection between the frames of reference... But yeah, I like the conservative approach to medication. That's why we like my 15-year-old daughter's psychiatrist. Not only does he take a slow and conservative approach to medication, but he also does talk therapy - pretty rare for a psychiatrist nowadays. Unfortunately my daughter isn't doing so well. She's bothered by ghosts - they talk to her and touch her, and a lot of times it becomes completely unbearable for her. And so far none of the medications or talks have done more than help her remain barely functional. As you can see, I've become a bit of a connoisseur of the mental health scene. I'm writing a book too...yes, therapeutic. Also some fascinating stuff, I think.
She musta been a crisis line candystriper. Hell orison, if you're gonna commit suicide, for God's sake don't upset the tender young things on the crisis line, you might ruin their day.
Hello, I wanted to thank those who participated in my research study so far. I have gotten some interesting results. This is the last week the surveys will be open. After this week they will close and I will analyze the data. If you have not taken them yet please consider doing so. The results will help further studies on better ways to treat mental and physical ailments. You will find the link to the surveys in this thread or you may go to my homepage and find it there. Thank you for your help!
