Well, to be fair, it hasn't been much of a discussion from the get-go. And with members wanting restrictions on who can post and what their comments should be, it never will be.

 

You're absolutely right that it hasn't been much of a discussion. I think part of the problem lies in the OP's initial statement which is incoherent, thereby attracting similar responses. But of course we have to have minimal restrictions, as we do against trolling. Otherwise, the braindead will take over and discussion will cease. This site is a Sanctuary for Christians. Only Christians can post here. That is "Skip's Rule." I think it's a good rule. Otherwise there would be no Sanctuary.

 

those could be minor mistakes by king james when translating the bible...but if you still doubt kjv why dont u check it out at the website i posted in the begining of the thread,.king james..its one of the 1st categories jus check it out

I've checked out KJV many times. I have a copy in front of me. It has more of those "minor mistakes" than other versions. Is God making those mistakes, or are the translators?

 

True believers are scary. What comes out of their mouthes doesn't sound as if they represent what Jesus stood for at all. The only real adherants I've met were very nice people who didn't call others names and in fact I never even knew they were christians until I observed their lives for a while. When I think of religion, I think of all the little churches in all the little back-water towns where people get together for the mutual satisfaction of being with kind and loving people for social AND religious reasons--maybe barbecues with their friends-fun for the children- a chance to catch up on local doings--just regular people that would gladly lend a hand to their neighbors in time of need. Real christians. Not the mega-churches whose seeming purpose is to make money-not the self serving cults that do tremendous damage to their people. I truly admire REAL christians that live it and not just blab it. I'm not supposed to post in here because I'm not able to call myself a christian,so sorry.I've just never felt it--but I couldn't help myself when seeing the how the OP projected himself. My dear departed grand-mother taught me "do unto others as you would have them do unto you',when I was a child. I like that. I like it a lot.

 

Belief is a symbol chosen to represent an unknown variable. The belief could be anything at all. It could be as fantastic as the imagination can make it, however it must be defended as there are no objective constituents in reality to support it. Further this type of belief demands absolute obedience, the stronger your belief the better believer you are.

"Faith" that works on the other hand, is a "little willingness" to allow things to emerge. Faith simply that you are cared for by God. A small seed that grows to the extent that the circumstances of life begin to come to you rather than you being at the mercy of circumstance.

 

It would seem to me that !weedhead! is immersed in anger and the need to judge others on his standards. God's standards can be illuminated by studying the life and words of Christ. All the condemnation and judgment exhibited on that website turns far more souls away from Jesus than towards him. I fear such rhetoric is a toll of Lucifer to drive people away from the light.
Oh yes - I too would be appreciative if non-Christians would not try to usurp this forum.

No, No - Not in the least if you are referring to the fact that you are not a Christian. I probably should not have said non-Christians should not be here. Some of the finest people I know are not Christians. I really was referring to keeping the discussion civil. Like it or not one of the things Christians need to be is civil to each and everyone else. Many who troll the forums just aren't civil nor do they take the discussions seriously.

Sorry if I lumped you in with some who have no respect for Christians nor serious discussion of other peoples beliefs. Demeaning anothers beliefs is a tool used by people who are ignorant of those beliefs.

Personally, I welcome open discussion from various viewpoints.

Thank you both. I was one that used to rag on the religious,but for some of us, wisdom comes late. It's of no use to anyone to subject others to vitriol ,when basically considering oneself a live and let live kinda guy.
