I posted this somewhere the other day, but this band broke up due to lack of interest. They still confuse me like fuck, and live they were pretty awesome. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K-BzWuc16GE"]YouTube- How May I Help You sikth
Porcupine Tree. In fact, I have either their discography or a cd sitting in my unsorted folder -- never would've guessed it was metal though (the site it was on + name made it sound modern indie) Dude, I'm listening to that song right now, and as annoying as the singing is, it's sorta interesting still =P
Yeah, they aren't really metal. I guess I lumped them in because they deserved to be hugely recognized. Only reason I figured I would mention them is because they are on Roadrunner's label now :frown: And yeah, that guy has a weird as fuck voice. But I find it still all quite amusing, and I do think they were hugely underrated. They remind me of the math metal version of the Blood Brothers that guy has an annoying voice And have to say, Katatonia have been releasing great album after great album and still they aren't recognized for the geniuses which they are.
I think doom should have a Big Four. They'd be Black Sabbath, Pentagram, and two [relatively] more modern bands, Sleep and Electric Wizard.
Thats the band Ive been trying to think of. Thanks a lot duck. Everytime I would try and pull that name out of my head, all i could come up with is Armored Saint. Armored saint is one of the big others.. tankard Toxic Holocaust Green Jello/Jelly Heathen Gothic Slam Nelson Sadus King's X Death Angel suicidal tendencies corrosion of conformity flotsam & jetsam metal church prong ministry 3 inches of blood Black tide GWAR Testament Exodus Grim Reaper
You really do know true metal =D Whose To Blame is one of my favorite metal songs ever lyrically and atmospherically.
ok so It's been a couple hours and aparently nobody noticed. Im not gonna point it out yet. However, I would like to add to the list, If I may. First, I would like to point out that the criteria for this list is THRASH. Metallica Megadeth Anthrax Slayer are the big 4 (which I assume this thread is a parody of.) So yeah. Some of the bands arent completely thrash, like Ministry, but you gotta admit they have very deep thrash roots. Also Im trying not to get too obscure here. sodom Judas Priest Exciter Kreator Destruction Scanner oh yeah, duh! Pantera If you can think of any more, Just shout it out.
I don't care to what prominence a band rises. As long as I enjoy them it's all fine and I rather have my fav stuff on smaller stages anyway The big four is horribly wrong though, Black Sabbath and Iron Maiden should be in any heavy metal big four rather than any of the bands that are in it now. It's an empty title for me.
Yeah. I went to a big outdoor gig last year and bleh, I'll stick to small theatres any day of the week. They're louder, cheaper and the pit is more brutal.
Yeah basically Exodus always seemed to me like the biggest outside the big four, along with Testament, Death Angel, Dark Angel and then you have the german three - Destruction, Kreator and sodom.
