Take all the adjectives in the english language. Divide them into two categories: Autological: Adjectives which describe themselves. examples: Pentasyllabic (is pentasyllabic) English (is english) Finite (is finite) Derived (is derived from older languages) Heterological: Adjectives which do not describe themselves. examples: Blue (is not blue) Electric (is not electric) Skinny (is not skinny) Loud (is not loud) The paradox: Is "heterological" heterological? :banghead: From the greatest book in the world. :coffee: If you ever listen to one thing I say on these forums, let it be to read this book. This book has university courses built around it. This shit will meta-blow your mind
That's like Russell's paradox. I'm getting that book, for sure! Thank you ! Do you have any more recommendations ?
I found this torrent and it is cool because; This is a collection of various media discussed in Douglas Hofstadter's book "Gödel, Escher, Bach", mostly music recordings and color images. It contains among other items recordings of "The Art Of Fugue" and "Musical Offering" by J.S. Bach, in high-quality MP3 files. The files are named starting with the page number where the respective work is first mentioned. The book itself is included in Djvu and PDF format, but I suggest you buy the dead tree edition. here are some sites for download that a quick search yielded: http://www.torrentreactor.net/torrents/4857700/Goedel-Escher-Bach_Hofstadter_media-collection http://www.torrentz.com/db4b1ccc8d7d6dfd96a28270760ebda7ea0a04e9 http://thepiratebay.org/torrent/4292337/Goedel-Escher-Bach_Hofstadter_media-collection
