Hello. So, I was looking for information on this place called Makanda Il when I found this site. I was very excited to find a place like this where like minded individuals are gathering, communicating, and exchanging info. So here is my introduction. My name is Raven Dancing, this is not just my username but the name I have been going by for about 18 yrs now. First and foremost I am a father and husband. I have two beautiful and intelligent daughters named Phoenix Blossom and Gryphon Talking Branch. My lovely and dedicated wife, Jubilee, is the best mother I have ever known. (No offence to all you good hippie moms out there. Secondly, I am an artist of some considerable talent, ability, and vision. My work could be labeled as psychedelic though many who have never participated in that experience do seem to truly enjoy it. I am also a fairly good story teller and in fact that is reflected in my art as each piece is an endeavor to tell a story using layers upon layers of iconic symbolism and imagery instead of words. Third, but far from least, I am an outspoken defender of our beautiful Mother Earth, or Gaia, as I like to call Her. After all, everything we know, every experience we have ever had, every drop of water we drink, every bite of food we eat, every breath of air we take into our bodies and even those bodies themselves come from and are provided by the Great Mother of All. I also believe that a large part of the troubles we are experiencing in these times are the result of the suppression of the feminine energy over the last several thousand years. My wife and I do not drink alcohol, though we do not frown on the casual user, we do not use amphetamines or prescription drugs of any kind and prefer to avoid those who do. This is not a judgemental thing, it just seems that in my experience trouble tends to follow these types of people. As we all know it is not easy being who and what we are in this world right now, and my family and I have not been spared these troubles. This is not a sob story and I am not trying to induce an atmosphere of sympathy, though earnest sympathy would never be rejected. Almost two years ago my family and I lost our home in foreclosure. It was a five acre organic farm in the beautiful Ozarks. Since then we have been traveling, selling art and doing commercial work for businesses and bands. But we are not truly the gypsy type and we long to find a community where we can be accepted and support ourselves. We have come very close to the "Big Break" many times but the forces of apathy and oppression have interfered every time thus far and we have to start over. This is where we find ourselves once again, which is why I was investigating Makanda Il. I do not know how much longer we will have internet access, but I intend to participate in this forum for as long as we do and to come back to it as soon as we are reconnected.
