Yes I have other issues (bipolar) but really can't move on until I deal with the drinking. I've taken a leave of absence from my job and am comming to the Gathering in PA. I know about A camp, and will avoid it. Who do I talk to? Are there supplements I can take before I arrive? I hate to arrive with this baggage, but this is my last option. My brother met his wife at a gathering and is now married with 5 kids. I know a little about the family and just need some help.

If you want to....but, if you wanted to detox at your house, you could do that too.
If you don't want to, being at a Gathering won't help.

My doctors tell me I could go into seziures(sp?) but I quit for 3 days 2 weeks ago, so I think they're full of it. At home I'm in my space, my zone, in the woods I'll be alone, well not ALONE, ALONE, but I think you know what I mean.

If you're so addicted you're risking seizure, you need to check into a rehab.

my advice>>>know where the CALM tent is at and try to camp as close as possible. you will receive support and advice to make it as mellow as possible but if you get drunk around main meadow, kids, CALM, etc (anywhere but a-camp) you should expect repercussions...iow, leave the bottle at home.

i've found breaking vices, if only for a couple weeks, is much easier around loving people...not to mention being deep in the woods!

    good luck...

If you're so addicted you're risking seizure, you need to check into a rehab.

Or at least be somewhere other than a rainbow gathering in the wilderness. Getting you out of there safely in a crisis would be a real project and interrupt a great many people- and probably bring in a lot of authorities/police and potential problems. Just my opinion based on limited info, I'm not trying to tell you what I think is right/wrong in your circumstances. Just more info to consider.

actually people were shuttling the injured to emergency rooms without any serious probs at previous gatherings. i drove a shuttle in new mex last year and made 2 trips to the emergency room in los alamos. there are people with vehicles who volunteer their time, vehicles and gas every year to help family get to the stores, showers and medical help...and to & from the extended parking areas scattered about the area.

the wilderness is never far from civilization...

Does this mean that we should encourage someone who knows he might need to be evaced to just come on? We have people who volunteer to sort & pack out trash, but leaving work for them is frowned on.

Good job working that shuttle, Sonoran Sam. I'm sure that made a world of difference to people that you were there for them.

'we' are not encouraging anyone to do anything...EYE am only letting the person know what's available and trying to clear up the distortions.
