My mom teaches 2nd grade, and one of her students had 3 dreads on the back of her head, near the neck. They were found during the lice check they due at school and the nurse was the first one to see them. The rest of her hair is perfectly straight and very long. The girl said that her mom brushes her hair everyday, but I guess she missed some spots! lol It's pretty cool that dreads formed even though she was washing with shampoo and conditioner, hair really does want to dread!
Haha I could imagine all the potential judgments those dreads could have caused. ...plus how vould her mom have missed them.... makes me wonder
My nine year old can have her hair brushed perfectly by myself or my wife and after a day playing and maybe sleeping without brushing it can end up with matted knots in the back of her hair. Doesn't really take long for a little kid, especially if they have thick hair like all my girls do. As far as head lice go, thats just an occupational hazard of elementary school the kids have to face, doesn't say a thing about the kids hygiene or care. Having knots in her hair or head lice is hardly a reason to call CPS.
I think I've pretty much always had a giant mass of knots at the base of my neck my whole life. I remember being young and having my grandma periodically get pissed off and comb it out, but it always returned.
Lol this topic was definitely worthy of a new thread, its called tangles I doubt she had 3 fully matured dreads on her nape without her mom seeing them eventually. I had long hair before dreads, and within a few days of not brushing I had lots of little tangles that resembled dreads on my nape too not uncommon
her mom didn't miss em. she ignored them. but, who could blame her as most kids hate having their hair brushed.
