almost hit by a truck on my bike

this morning, on my way to work. i was about to turn right off the road to my apt. complex. this truck was turning left into the same road, and FAST because he was trying to beat the oncoming traffic. he cut his turn really sharp so he was in my lane. he didn't see me until he was about to hit me, and we both swerved. it was QUITE close. i saw it coming and it was mostly me that avoided it.

i blew my lid. curse words was screaming out of my mouth and i don't recall the details. it was something like "WHAT THE FUCK!!!!!!!!!!! WATCH WHERE THE FUCK YOU'RE GOING!!!" he stopped his truck. part of me thought he might be confrontational because i was screaming profanities at him. did this fucker wanna fight me?! not that i'm a tough ass, but i had an otherwise frustrating morning and now i was almost run down on my way to work!

i went up to his truck still screaming. went something like "LEARN HOW TO FUCKIN DRIVE!! YOU ALMOST FUCKIN HIT ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"
"i'm sorry i'm sor"
"WATCH WHAT THE FUCK YOU'RE DOING" AHHHHHHHHHHHHHH BEAST MODE!! haha

"i'm sorry! i'll pay closer attention next time. i'm sorry"

by then i was "coming too" and thanked the guy for his apology, shook his hand and pedaled off, into the busy street...



it was almost like a blackout. i wouldn't have been surprised if i dragged the guy out of his truck and beat him. had he said anything bitchy to me. but he was so apologetic i actually felt sorry for him.

i don't think i've ever invoked so much fear into someone.

 

I think the last thing on people's minds a lot of time is people on bikes and pedestrians.


It's good that you didn't get hit, though and finally calmed down. Poor guy haha
He was probably so scared.

awwe I have almost been hit crossing hte street by cars, and I never cussed, I wish I had. good thing to get it out. adn I am sorry you were almost hit. that truly is scary. It is not cool at all. at least the guy wasnt an jerk and apologized. : )

ohh you were lucky then haha, i was riding my bike just 2 days ago and some kid in a camaor was also trying to beat on coming traffic not to mention i was coming pat him where he had a stop sign so i desided to go he will stop. GUESS WHAT no stop hit me i fly up on the hood of the car and role off the side of the and does he stop, hell no he get side ways out of the corner onto the main road and squeals the tires and takes off like a bat out of hell it was redicioulas

 

Drivers here are biker friendly.. i've only had one asshole almost hit me.. the car swerved around another car that had stopped for me.. good thing i noticed it.. otherwise i would have been hit.. threw him the finger and yelled "you dumb fucking ****".. i kept on my way because i was heated.. and more than likely would have done something i would have regretted

people need to pay attention it's so easy to zone out when driving sometimes, but that is so NOT the point

Bicycling in traffic is more dangerous than anything else I have ever done in my life. I don't do it very much anymore. Now that I don't have to use my bike as transportation anymore, I am one of those people that I used to make fun of. I load my bike up in the car and drive it to the bike path wherever I wish to ride that day.

 

well i'm about to head out and defy death again this morning. every (weekday) morning in fact.

my friend weed wacked my leg (through jeans) once. it left a big welt but didn't cut it off

 

Do you wear a helmet? They are such a pain.
