    WOW.....
3/3 of my blog entries correct.
I petition that this tool be installed on HF to pick up people lying about their gender, in particular the love and sex forums....

This tool in that case would have figured out a few strung out issues the UK forums had for a while, if you get my drift

I think one problem this program might have is how it analyzes the passages without any regard for context.
For example, the key words that trigger "female" tend to be relational - "we" "they" "us" "share" "together" "with"
Conversely, the words that trigger "male" tend towards autonomy - "I" "me" "around" "it" "the" "a" "is" .

I guess this makes sense, but it doesn't account for the context in which the author is writing. If a male is writing about a subject that requires relational descriptions and collective pronouns, the program will define him as female just because of what he is writing about.

Unless of course they are judging this on the assumption that females are more likely to write about relational issues while males will gravitate towards writing autonomously, but that sort of assertion kind of undermines the whole point of the quiz, which is to differentiate the genders based on writing style, not context.

When I put in a paper I had to write for getting in trouble with alcohol it predicted I was female. I completely bullshit that paper.

When I put in a paper that I actually cared about writing... one of my recent history papers... it predicted I was male.

    I'm a dude.

Have not played with this toy yet, but I am recalling something from one of my lit or writing classes..."The reason male writers are better at creating realistic female characters than female writers are at creating male characters is that most women are raised by their mothers. And so are most men." I think the quote is from Nabokov
