Do you do this? I don't. Like, why the fuck should I? Clapping is stupid anyway, and people who persistently clap at gigs should have their hands tied together, especially hot chicks.
clapping is bad for your hands anyways.. tis, why the clappers are not musicians, listening to a jerkwad that is... ";p
i rarely clap even if i did like the performance. only if it particularly stood out to me, as a rule. sporting events are different though.
True story; Way, waaaayyy back when I was in grade school we had just finished watching some sort of play put on by the junior high kids when the entire student body started clapping in unison. We started off normally but after about a half a minute of clapping the hive mind slowly took over and all of us clapped as one. CLAP...CLAP...CLAP...CLAP!!!! It was funny but the nuns did not like that. They didn't like that at all, so they made the entire school stay there and practice clapping correctly for what seemed like an hour. I still don't like clapping and only will if I'm at an Oriole game and they actually win, so you can imagine that is not very often. Inb4 cool story bro.
When I was younger if I was invited by friends to some performance I would clap out of gratitude? I guess to a performance I did not enjoy. It is certainly awkward psychologically to applaud a performance that you did not embrace. I do not clap for something that I chose to see that ended up sucking. Most stuff I choose to see is pretty awesome tho so thats rarely a problem, but damn you Black Crowes. Clapping is a strange human ritual to me but I find it stranger for like politician speeches then most other performances.(musical/theatrical/etc)
On the old Gong Show, Chuck Barris had a nervous habit of clapping his hands as he hosted the show. The audience would anticipate his next hand clap and all clap in unison along with him just to drive him nuts. I know. Dumb. But then again that was a dumb show overall. .
I always clap for amateurs/children who are pushing their comfort zone by performing in front of groups.
You are suffering from OCD (obsessive clapping disorder). It's a condition of using prolonged clapping as a means of drawing attention to oneself. There is help for you and it's called Clapamin, the first pharmaceutical directed at treating OCD. Only your doctor can prescribe Clapamin. Side effects include sweaty palms, folding the hands together for prolonged intervals, and uncontrolled slapping oneself in the face (known as Moe Howard disorder). Ask your doctor if Clapamin is right for you. .
