I read an article that in 2007, cat's that are genetically engineered to avoid alergic reaction will go on sale for around $2500. If anyone wants one they can put a $500 deposit down now.

In all seriousness, does anyone think there is something wrong with this? My first reaction was that it was wrong, but if they aren't hurting the cats, and it is helping alergic people to own them, what would be wrong with it? I would like to hear other people's insight.

As long as it doesn't border on animal cruelty, it's alright. If it DOES border, then the people who made the whole thing up ( and the ones supporting it ) should all go to hell and burn to crisp,if possible even worse.

How would it be cruelty? The changes would be made to it's genetic code bfore it's ever alive I'm assuming...

is it ok to play "god"?

if you genetically engineered a cat woulden't that be a new gateway for disease?

    sounds bad.......

Did it harm the rabbit? Did it harm anything or anyone else? If no, then who cares if it's frivelous? Not everything needs to be utilitarian...

It was utilitarian to the people who wanted to make a nice profit off of it.

Obviously enough people were intrigued by it that they were ABLE to make a profit off of it. What's wrong with that?

The same goes for genetically modified cats. I think it's great.

I'm sure they'll come out with something to top the glow-in-the-dark one. Perhaps a rabbit with ears that are four times as big.

I actually heard something a while back about scientists who were able to splice the genes of monkeys and seahorses, and the result were very tiny monkeys. I am not sure if this is true, but I would pay a lot of money for a dozen tiny monkeys...

sounds delicious; almost as good as GM featherless chickens to make it less of a hassel to pluck them in the battery farms......shucks these boffins think of everything, aren't we lucky!
