Its been all over the news apparently, man I havent switched on a TV in like two years.

It wasnt an election is was some kind of shifty power play thing, and I cant really be bothered reading up on the 'why?'

oh yeah. i wasn't paying attention to that, either. i'm vague on how it works. was there a "no confidence" vote, and if so, what is that? it's one of those phrases i've always meant to look into since i dropped out of college in the 90's. it all seemed pretty interesting.

 

Suggest you turn the TV off. Nothing good on anyway.

It actually was an easy coup for her as she had overwhelming support of the party once they challenged Rudd's leadership.

Party lines were drawn over his backing out on a bill that would make polluters pay for their carbon emissions, and a proposed tax on resources. It was of course fought by mining companies and he let the bill go.

Easy picking after that.

Julia Gillard seems to be rather well rounded and she may be able to do much, time will tell of course. My understanding is that she is in until a formal election takes place and that a formal election will be held in the near future. She is expected to win that.
