I'm pretty sure at least 1 person dies there a year, I think a bigger issue is lots of people were jumping over fences and shit that section off the bleachers from the field which in and of itself probably caused some injuries. But I agree with you kids ruining a great thing.

I've seen people OD at the EDC in Colorado. A big group of EMT's and cops around them. I'd assume when he was done with the doctor, he had some kind of charges sadly.

I'd guess the girl got some pill that was not MDMA. Just means stricter rules for future events, but they can't take our raves away :(

At the Oregon Country Fair several years ago, I watched as a man went into fits of seizures and convulsions from an OD. It was in the bathhouse/steam room thingy they have set up there, and oddly, nobody but me seemed to give a damn for several minutes. I seriously didn't see a single soul come to his aid for probably 15 min. It was quite sad that not one damned hippie sitting next to him cared enough to even check his pulse. I don't remember how help came, but I know I had something to do with it... me and this older woman. It was seriously fucked up; but on the upshot, the EMT's there were trained well for OD's and cops are not allowed on Ken Kesey's property--so this chap didn't see any legal issues just health ones.

I do not see how dancing at night in warehouses or in the woods can even be prosecuted under the law. Perhaps if these are illegal raves, i.e., held on property not belonging to the ravers, or, if the forested areas strictly forbid parties of any kind, sure. But to outlaw parties where they're held in private warehouses, on public lands not forbidding such, or elsewhere private/public where such dancing events are not even so much as frowned upon, I think that L.A. is going to have to break some Constitutional rights, like the Right to Assembly (if I'm quoting the Bill of Rights correctly there). Bah to that. Raves will go on, just more cautiously now.

The city can't ban raves on private property... They are asking that coliseums prohibit them temporarily until they can figure out how to Make them safer. These coliseums may be privately owned... In which case they CAN hold the events... But they would likely lose a LOT of money and support for it. It's all politics really...

I didn't think the city could do something like that. As for privately owned property, I can see that, and, can totally see it as a political play.

In the same city when the Lakers win, they tear shit up every year, and there is all kinds of arrests, and trouble because people got drunk and excited, but no one says hey we have to do something about that.

100 people out of over 100,000 were taken to the hospital, mostly for dehydration and bad E pills I'd guess. You can't get that many people together without something like that, and they really did seem on top of it, they had private ambulances that the promoter paid for for each of them.

someone always dies occasionally. sad. but not all of them are from OD's. one person i think at Nocturnal not sure, died from being trampled. cant outlaw feet now can we?
and out of all those people, its kinda good that only one died.
and it actually it says she was put into a coma and her family pulled the plug. interesting.

and are the prices so high to go because of all the politics and licenses that Insomniac has to deal with?

also like unfocusedanakin says, a lot of the ODingness is from dehydration. frickin look at the enormous crowd in the coliseum + dancing + e. and then Insomniac fuckin sells water bottles for like 3-5$. If Insomniac cared more about their license and such, i'd think they would sell bottles for cheaper. and at a lot of raves, they have port-a-potties so that there arent sinks to refill bottles so that you're forced to buy water bottles. fuckin evil i tell ya. but i dont think that was the case for EDC

And i get pissed when peers get pissed about people jumpin the fence. just fuckin let them in, shut up and dance!!

thats what i got to say about that.

    on a personal note,
i wanted to go to edc soooo bad.
my friend almost got arrested with pills and weed in his bag. and he was drunk from a whole bottle of vodka. and when he got the chance, when this other ODing girl came along, he grabbed his bag and ran!!! then later he fried on 3 tabs. crazy shit.
